Home, Ga., May Z*.—It required a
second Indictment by the Federal grand
Jury before United Statea District At
torney F. Carter Tate could place
George F. Hurt, a well-known At
lantan, on trial here today In the Fed
eral court for peonage. Yesterday the
Indictment* against Mr. Hurt, as man
ager of the Georgia Iron and Coal Com
pany; J. T. Price and H. K. Lamb,
were dlamlaaed on a demurrer by An-
deraon, Felder. Rountree & Wilson,
attorneys for the defendants, and the
district attorney had to get another In
dictment from the grand Jury.
The government has a mass of evi
dence to Introduce, and It Is doubtful It
the trial Is finished today.

Savannah, Ga , May 21—The most
serious part of the bloody tragedy at
Reldsvflle Monday of the negroes was
brought to light by the confession made
by Padgett’s wife that ehe finished kill.
Ing John Hare, whd had only been
wounded, when the members of the
posse left him for dead. There la all
sorts of report* being circulated In re
gard to the affair there.
A nice purse was raised by people of
the neighborhood for Mrs. Hare, widow
of the man killed.
