“A Runaway Match.”
That amusing little comedy, “A Run
away Match," Is proving a delightful
attraction this week at the Caelno and
the fine Impression made earlier In the
week Is being duplicated at every per
formance since the opening Monday
night. The clever specialties Introduced
by Harty and Johnson, the three Con-
natly sisters and several others give
the comedy that touch of vaudeville
that Is so pleasing and add diversity
to the entertainment
There will be three more perform
ances of “A Runaway Match.” Includ
ing the regular matinee Saturday after
noon.
Mary Marble and Little Chip.
It le safe to say that no attraction
booked this season at the Caelno will
be more eagerly awaited than the com
ing of Little Chip and Mary Marble
next week. The vehicle for their tal
ents Is a musical comedy called “The
Nancy Hanks." A number of musical
Interpolations break the regular run of
the comedy, giving a presentation that
delights the theatergoer and gives op
portunities for the favorites to do their
cleverest work.
In the cast are old favorites such as
Tony Hart, Dan Marble, Marie Fan-
chonett! and others who have become
popular with the Bijou musical comedy
company. One of the strongest song
hits of the piece Is "The Teddy Bears."
Other song hits that will become popu
lar before the end of next week are:
"Tell Me.” "They Say He Went to Col
lege" and "Poor John.” The LaTour
sisters and the three Pendleton elstere
will also be seen in their clever special
ties.
Matinees will begin promptly at 2:30
o'clock to enable those who want to see
the ball game after the afternoon per
formance, to see the opening of the
game.
Pastime Theater.
With the week drawing rapidly to a
close, those who have not seen the
vaudeville bill aa presented at the
Pastime Theater this week are about
to overlook a pleasurable .opportunity
for a good hearty laugh. A. Cortes
Brown and his coon song, "John Hen
ry.” Is worth the price of admission.
Harold Rainey and his clog dancing,
Rose Mayo and Leonard Rowe In "Kit
ty's Letter." and Johnny Mitchell and

reporting a riot. In which one white
man had been killed. The sheriff and
a posse of fifteen, with Winchester ri
fles. left on the night train. Arriving
at Carlisle, they pursued the negro who
did the killing.
The negro wae found In bed several
miles from Carlisle and brought to
Union this morning.
The particulars are that Arthur Da
vis, colored, wae arrested by Constable
Clarence Gist and Incarcerated.
The negro was later released on ball.
He gAt his pistol, waited for Gist to
pass on his way home In company with
a friend. Davie shot Gist dead, the ball
passing through one arm and entirely
through hie body. Gist and hie friend
both shot live time* at Davie, but
mlesed. Gist died In thirty mlnutee.

ant Under Arrest at
Police Station.
Suspected by officers of being bur
glars, Mrs. Annie Wheeler, 35 years of
age, of *2 Central avenue, and Mary
Ruffin, her negro servant, were taken
Into custody Thursday night by Detec
tives wood- and Roberts nnj are held
prisoners In the police station.
The two women are suspected of
having broken Into and robbed the
apartments of Mrs. Clara Hale, who
occupies a portion of the house at 82
central avenue, a double tenement.
The prisoner* deny they are guilty
anil protest they know nothing con
cerning the burglaries. Among the ar-
tides stolen were two doge, which were
fastened In a room.

Macon, Ga.. May 24.—Feeling that the
camp would be better prepared to elect

mond reunion, the Thomai Hardeman
camp. Sons of Confederate Veterans,
which met late yesterday afternoon, did
not name Its officer* for the ensuing

the camp for’ the Richmond trip and It
la needless to say that the reunion will
be enjoyed by all the members of the
camp.

entire Fifth regiment under command
of Major V. H. Shearer; the Governor’s
Horse Guard and the Light Artillery,
under command of Captain King; the
two pieces of artillery which will be
brought to Atlanta by the Athens ca
dets, under command of Captain Jones;
the Marlet College cadets, under com
mand of Major Eugene Smith; the ma
chine gun battery, under command of
Lieutenant Kemp.
The attacking army on the south
eldn will be under command of Colonel'
Walter A. Harris, of Macon. His com
mand will be composed of three or four
troops of mounted cavalry, under com
mand of Colonel Cassells, of Savannah;
the Second regiment, under command
of some officer to be designated by Col ■
onel Harris upon his arrival In Atlanta;
the Athena cadets, under command of
Lieutenant Kimbrough; the cadets from
Gordon Institute, nt Barnesvllle, under
command of Lieutenant Hearn.
The arrangements for providing
horses for the cavalry have already
been completed and there will be no
trouble about tills feature of the pro
gram.
The battle will begin promptly at S
o'clock. The cavalry on the south side
will begin the attaak on the forces
which will he massed on the hill. The
eharge of the cavalry will be followed
by an attempt of the Infantry to atorm
the works on the hill.
While the battle Is In progress
Inspiring strains of music from tw<
three bands will assist the enthusiasm
of the warrlore In rising to fever heat.

M. V. Estes, aged (5, died Friday
morning at a private sanitarium, after
a long lllnees. He was an old resident
of Atlanta and a Confederate veteran.

ABE ARRESTED ON
SBHOUS CHARGE
Suspected of Being Members
of Gang of Thieves in •
Home Town.
The arrest In Atlanta Thursday, night
of Emory Carver, a, well known young
man of Canton, Ga., has developed a
sensational story of a gang of Crimi
nals that has been terrorising Canton
for the past year.
Carver, who was taken Into custody
by Detectives Simpson and Campbell,
Is the third of the alleged gang to be
arrested. Frank Jarvis and Albert Me.
Collum, both welt known young men
In their community, had previously
been arrested and Jailed In Canton. Mc
Collum waa released Thursday after
noon on bond.
The arrest of the trio has created
quite a stir In Canton. According to
Town Constable J. E. Mulllnax, of
Canton, who la now In Atlanta at work
on the case, the young men are sus
pected of complicity In a variety of
crimes that have extended over the.
period of fully a year, nnd which have
mystified officers and citizens. Includ
ed In the Met of offenses, says Offlcerl
Mulllnax, are car breaking, • burglaries,!
ordinary thefts, and one case of anon,,
the residence of a wall known citizen
having been burned recently.
The officers believe that a lot of
goods stolen by the alleged gang has
been disposed of In Atlanta. The of-i
fleers are on the trail Friday of a type-i
writer, said to have been brought hcro|
and pawned by young Carver.
Constable Mulllnax visited tho police
station Friday morning and had a con
ference with the prisoner, bu* obtained
very little Information. Each of the

any complicity In the Canton crimes.
Officer Mulllnax was accompanied
here by W. H. Russ, of Canton, owner
of the stolen typewriter. Carver will
be taken back to Canton Friday night.
Officer Mulllnax says he betleves tho

organized and that there are a Number
of members still at large.
