Georgia Growers Get Gold Brick From Interstate Commission. Some time In the future, when there Is a good peach crop In Georgia, the peach ahlppera will be aaved about 873,. 000 a year aa a result of the decision made Saturday by the Interstate com merce commission. This year, with only about one-third of a crop, they would have been saved about 924,000, but aa the date on which the order Is to go Into effect Is July It, the shippers will get a species of gold brick In the decision. For by that time most of the peach shipment will be over. According to dispatches from Wash ington, the commission declared th* rate ot 61 cents from Macon and At lanta to New York per hundred pound* unjust and unreasonable and reduced It to 76 cents. In addition the icing or re frigerator charge* were reduced from 13 1-2 centa per crate of 42 pounds to 11 cents. The decision was the result of th* complaint made by J. J. Wnxelbaum. a commission merchant of Mncon, and the result dealred Is something the peach growers of Georgia have been seeking for several years. One of the main grievances of th* shippers was that In order to get the benefit of car load rates of 81 cents they were compelled to load 560 crate* of peaches In a car, and they claimed this was too many and that the top row of crates contained nothing but decayed fruit when the cars arrlvad at the destl. nation. The commission regulates this by de claring the reduced rate of 76 cents to apply to car load shipments containing 20,000 for 16-foot cars and 32,600 pounds for 40-foot cars. In this way the commission elimi nates the objectionable top row. The rates to Washington and Baltimore are reduced to 71 oents from 78 cents. BATH COST ALLEN WHOLEJANK HOLL.
