TWO WOMEN PUZZLE
POLICE DEPARTMENT
The case of Mrs. A. ,T. Swlnson, the
young woman taken Into custody by Police
man W. F. Harper Tuesday morning at the
Terminal Station, Is still a mystery.
Both the young woman and Sadie Tre-
meo, the 15-yenr-old country girl found In
her company, aro being held at the police
station, nut so far nothing has been learn
ed concerning them. Chief Jennings bns
communicated with the authorities Iu Chat
tanooga, from which place the couple cauio
here, put has received no answer.
The woman hod In her possession a quart
of whlaky and a large quantity of mor
phine. She has admitted she uses the drug.
The case was called Wednesday morning
before Acting Recorder Taylor, but was
continued until Thursday morning.

CHILD UNHURT BY FALL

Anniston, Ala., June 12.—The 8-
months-old child of Mr. and Mr*. Hal
Rudlslll. Jr., fell from the second‘story
their home to the ground and was
no! Injured. The child only missed a
picket fence a few inches. The child
was on a bed near an open window and
crawled out of the window. Th# fall
was about fourteen feet
MAJ. MERRILL SUES
FOR BIG DAMAGES
8. M. Merrill, 72 year* of age, and
major in the United Htatea army, Wednta
day filed ault for $20,000 against the Georgia
Railway and Electric Compnny for Injuries
alleged to have been received while attempt
ing to board a car ou Peachtree street on
January 2, 1907.
Major Merrill alleges that the car was
given a sudden and rloleut Jerk forward
just as bo put hla foot on the lower step,
which hurlnd him to tho ground, injuring
him so badly that he wna carried to hla
room. 198 Peachtree street. In an uncon
scloua condition.
Tho major nets forth the fact that he
wan drawing a Hilary of $218 a month, hut
that his right arm was so badly injured
that he haa not been able to perform the
diitlca of hla offlci*.
The suit was filed by Attorney Eb T. Wil
liams, representing the plaintiff.
NEGRO DESPERADO
CARRIED TO JACKSON

Jarkaon, Ml,,.. June II.—Henry
Jones, the Covington county desperado,
was brought to Jackson Jail last night
by Sheriff Lott, to prevent mob vio
lence. Jones escaped from the county
fnrm yesterday morning, doped up, se
cured a shotgun and started out, he
stated, to kill several white persons
whom were responsible for his county
farm sentence. He was overpowered
before had a chance to use his gun.
8hertff Lott also brought In a negro
named John Howse, who attempted to
assassinate a white family near Collins,
firing a shotgun Into their dwelling.

man, who was placed on trial In the
corporation court charged with the
murder of W. P. Dolsen, a former ma
rine In the United Slates navy, was
found guilty of murder In the first d«;
gree. Attorney Martin made a mo
tion for a new trial. This will be ar
gued Saturday,
