Montgomery, Ala., Juno 21.—Senator Perry Thomas, of Barbour county, president pro tem of tho senate. In an (ntarvlew stated that “the action of tho primary in naming J. H. Bank- head for alternate United States aenu tor was as binding on the legislature as on the governor." He does not think there wilt bo serious opposition to Bankhead when the legislature msets. He la not of the opinion that the governor will take a hand In the matter. There appears to be some mystery as to how Governor Comer stands on the question and there are many who believe he will yet have a candidate. There Is no getting around tha fact, and that Is, It Governor Co mer does throw hi* strength to any one there will be one of tho prettiest political battles ever witnessed in Ala. homo. Comer Is a tighter and so Is Bankhead. Comer has enormous strength with the present legislature and should ho decide that Bankhead should bedefeated, well, he will come near doing It, On the other hand, there nre many who believe the governor wilt take no hand In the fight and that he will let Bankhead, Tomlinson and Stalllns and any other* who mny an nounce. fight It out among themselves. For boys and ONt; 0 XoItT* I T 6®7J ‘* n ' lou ’ Weet Point. A TRIBUTE PAID TO BOY’S MEMORY Few boys have been so loved by friend* and playmate* as was Edward Lloyd Thomas, the 11-year-old son of Colonel L. P. Thomas, who died last Tuesday. His funeral was attended by a number of his young friends, who were much affected, and one of these has written a tribute to young Thomas which The Oeorglan Is glad to publish. It follow*: Edward Lloyd Thomas was such a beautiful character that he won the love and admiration of all with whom he came In contact. He, unlike many other boys of that age, who think It Is manly to smoke and even drink, was entirely free from any objectionable Imbtls, nnd his courtesy and cheery nature won him a place In every heart. Much a character as his Is very rare. He was as manly as a man of the world In his ways, and yet he was as gsntle as a woman to small children and dumb animals. He always had a cheery greeting for everyone, and hia bright nature cheered all who knew him. Although It seems hard that he should be taken so suddenly and without warning, yet it was for the beat. Ws could not tell what trials he might have had to contest with In the future years or what temptation he might have been led Into, but He knew and took him whits he was still a boy and free from the stains of sin. And again we must consider how much easier u was for him to die as he did. Many, many peo ple die horrible, lingering deaths, but he went quietly and peacefully with no long months 1 f pain and suffering. Al- though It Is hard upon the love3 ones he leaves behind, yet we must remem ber that he I* now beyond all pain or worry, where disease and suffering are unknown. He Is mourned by a host of young friends, who. though they may find other friend# in the years to come, and when they are older other men and women may claim their affection., they will always cherish at the bottom of their heurt# the memory of a noble boy whose place can not be filled.
