The Biggest Kind of a Change
that Ever Happened to Any magazine
Has Happened This Month to
THE SCHHP BOOH for July la Issued In two sections—fivo complete magazines, each
with Hi own cover and Its own table of contento. One of these sections Is an IU-
(lldSTMHD magazine; the other Is an aiL-FICTtOhl magazine. Each la a mammoth maga•
zlno In Iteelf. The one presents an overwhelming array of human Interest articles and
Illustrations f the other an enormous tonnage of fiction—160 pages of absorbing stories.
Ten yetrt ego I created a new type of magazine—tile ALL-FICTION magazine. Now I am creating another
— -~atED magazine. Thli 1« the age of tpecitlitzUon. The conventional i
I magazine,
distinct type—the ALL-ILLUSTRA' _ ,
with lit (mattering of iQuitratiom and its tmatteringof fiction and its (mattering of special articles, doesn't contain
enough of any one thing to make it tetisfying. The ALL-FICTION magazine and tho ALL-ILLUSTRATED
magaiine, joined together as a unit, strengthen each other, end make something really big and forceful and convincing,
The Only Way to Know a Thing is to Try It
The two-section magaiine idea Is brand-new to the world. It it not qnlte new with me, however, as ( have
given It, at odd times, four or five years of thought. Ii first came into my mind in response to a desire to couple, in
tome way, the strength of the all-fiction magaiine with the illustrated featurea of the conventional magazine. It has
been a difficult problem to work out. Now that the idea is perfected, I wish to see whet there is in ft It looks to
ms to be very good, but the only way to know s thing is to try It.
Two Magazines for a Quarter—Easy Money
Tho price of this two-part magazine is twenty-five cents, which Is equal to twelve
and one-half cents a magazine. Most magazines which were selling at ten cents
hare been advanced to fifteen cents. THU SCRAP BOOK In two parts means two
magazines for twenty-five cents against thirty cents for two fifteen cent magazines.
