Thursday morning the Joint commit,
tee appointed by the general aaeembty
Wednesday to arrange a program tor
the Inauguration of Oovernor-elect
Hoke Smith next Saturday, submitted
Its report to the houee. The commit
tee was composed of Senators Martin
and Overstreet and nepreaentatlves Al
exander, of DeKalb; Shaw, of Clay, and
Tyson, of Emanuel.
Speaker Slaton announced that It
would bo unnecessary for the house
to take any action on the roport, and
the plans for the Inauguration aa ar
ranged by the committee ore os fol
lows:

committee raised by resolution of the
rs of the com
mittee on behalf of the house, beg leavt
to report the following program aa
agreed on by the Joint committee:
1. That at 11:30 a. m. on Saturday,
the 29th Inst, the general assembly
shall convene In Joint session In the
hall of the houee of representatives.
2. Thut the governor. Judges of the
supreme and superior courts and the
court of appeals, and the various state
house officers and the departmental of
ficers be requested to assemble In the
governor's office at 11:45 a m, togeth
er with the Judges of the circuit and
district courts ’ of the United States,
who shall be Invited to participate.
3. That at 11 o'clock the committee
■hall repair to the residence of the
governor-elect and escort him to the
Capitol grounds together with such of
his Immediate friends as shall be de
sired by him, and attended by such
escort of the cltlsens, soldiers or other
military and civic organisations as may
attend, and by all other cltiaena who
may so desire.

pared for the family of the governor-
elect and his friends and that they be
admitted thereto.
5. That at 11 :B0 the governor and
party of officials in his office are re
quested to repair to the platform and
take scats thereon to be'prepared for
them.
That at the same hour the Joint
session of the general assembly, pre
ceded by the principal doorkeepers and
the sergeants at arma of both houses,
shall proceed In its organised capacity
and be seated thereon.
T. That thereupon the committee
shall bring forward the governor-elect
senate end speaker
3. That thereupon the proceeding!
shall ba opened by Bishop Warren A.
Candler, who ahnll have previously
been Invited to render this service.
9. That thereupon the president of
the senate shall, in the presence and
hearing of the people, announce and
declare the result of the. canvass of
votes for governor and shall cell upon
the chief justice to administer to the
governor-elect the oath of office ns pre.
scribed by the constitution, In the pres
ence of tbs general assembly and In
the eight and hearing of the people.
10. The secretary of state shall at
tend with the great seal of the state,
and whan the governor shall have
taken the oath, shall turn the satfie
over to him and the governor shall
thereupon entrust the same Into the
custody of the secretary of state, with
such charge as he may deem appropri
ate.
11. The governor shall thereupon ad
dress the general assembly In the hear
ing of the people.
12. Upon the conclusion of the gov
ernor’s address, benediction shall be
pronounced by Rer. Richard Orme
Invited to be present
service.
13. Genoral assembly shall then re
main until the governor, late governor
and the other officials shall withdraw.
14. The general nssembly shall there
upon rise and return In their organised
capacity to the hall of the house In
like order as they came from U, and
shall there take such further action an
may seem proper.
The traveling men of Atlanta will
participate In the Inaugural parade,
and they will he out In force. They
will meet at the corner of NortV Pryor
street and Auburn avenue at the placo
of H. M. Ashe and will then march In
a body to the corner of West Kills and
Peachtree streets. Mr. Ashe will act
as chairman, while R. N. Flckett will
•-operate with him.

Smith, a graduate of Trinity college,
and a crack baseball player tills season,
shot himself at Durham today. Melan-
choloy Is believed to have been the
cause of the deed.
