The feature of the day's news was the report from Duluth that 225 boat loads of wheat had been Bold there over the Fourth, total of 1,800,000 bushels. Only part of this enormous business was con firmed. Thero was an Immense amount of bullish nows on wheat, and It wns made the most of, but the outside trade was not of large enough volume to carry the market upward and keep It there against tho enormous Eastern selling, nnd the latter was by a single house—an Eastern and Chicago house. Professionals were buyers early, but they sold late. The East sold about 200,000 bushels of wheat. Foreign news was extremely bullish with mar kets over there much higher. Argentine shipments were much smaller at 1,184,000 bushels. A re duction In Import duty is promised by Spain. Corn was active and oats enjoyed a big trade with both cereals unsettled. July 5.—The Modern Miller estimate* on the average yield per acre of winter wheat furnished by millers In the principal producing states show that by comparison with la*t year’* yield and figured on the haste rtf the acreage to be harvested, as estimated by the government, the crop In Missouri and Michigan will be about the same as last year. Illinois 8 per cent larger; Nebraska, 10 per cent smaller: Indiana, 16 per cent emaller; Ohio. 20 per cent smaller; Kansan, 25 per cent smaller. The Kan sas crop in estimated at about 60,000,- 000 bushels. Oklahoma can spare a small amount for shipment out of the state. Texan must import for milling and seed requirements.
