Vernon. Ga„ July 24.—During a thunder itorm yeaterday afternoon the residence of D. IV. Folaom woe etruck by lightning. Mrs. Foliom received a terrible shock and bums, but It was not fatal. Others were shocked, and the house was almost wrecked, the furniture being a complete wreck. The new court house was struck sev eral times, but not damaged. With the final presentation on Saturday night of next week the engagement will be over and the mem bers of the company will be free to go to their respective homes or Join the companies In which they will play this winter. The Fawcett company will have been here ten weeks, and during that time has won a warm place In the hearts of Atlanta theatergoers. That It Is far and away above the average, no one who has seen the company can deny, and It IS hoped that the management of the Grand will be able to secure the same company for next summer. Announcement Is also made that Brandon Hurst, who has been playing the "heavy" for the company, has closed a contract with Charles Froh- man to play In one of his companies, and will leave for New York at the end of this week. WOMAN WILL SWEAR BEFORE A PRIEST Arraigned Wednesday morning In police court on complaint of neigh bors bscauso of her drinking habits. Mrs.. Beulah Davis, of 118 Magnolia street, said she was willing to take an oath never to drink again, but refused to allow It to be administered In court. She explained that she Is a Catholic and said she would go before a priest and take the oath. / Mrs. Davis Insisted she hss already quit drinking, but said she was willing to make her act binding with an oath.
