Vaudeville At Casino. The vaudeville bill at Ponce DeLeon Casino this week has settled down to straight operation nnd the program is being spun off In a manner both pleas. Ing und interesting. There is a great variety in this combination and all of the acts are receiving an equal meas ure of approval. Hae and Brosche, the comedy duo of unusual strength, havo become very popular. Frank Hae is a very clever monoioguist and his talk about signs Is simply crowded with laughter. Steele and Kdwnrds, the musicians, are already favorites, but Chick and Chlckleta havo secured the triumphal success of the week. The bill is on until Saturday night, with the usual performances. It is believed that the program thnt has been arranged for next week will surpass the vaudeville successes of the .cpfison. It is a great deal easier Just now to secure high-class acts than It was three weeks ngo, for there Is a great deal more known about the situ ation than there was at that time. The Casino commissioners in New York have already succeeded In capturing for the feature of the bill, tho famous Mademoiselle Armenta, the Parlsiuu mirror dancer, who promises to create something of a sensation here. A 60 After August 1st,' Christian Church Building, about 75x 100, on Hunter street, adjoining Chamber of Commerce and opposite courthouse. Will remodel to suit tenant for manufacturing, mercantile or office purposes. Also 35 Auburn avenue. Will improve to suit tenant for manufacturing, mercantile or hotel purposes. A. G. RHODES, 1130 Candler Buliding. foot carload of equipment will reach the city on Monday, and an augmented stage crew will he required to make the setting necessary for the perform ance of this talented woman. The feature will bo surrounded by a num ber of other acts, and seats may be had In advance at tho Bijou box office. "Ea*t Lynnt” Next Week. The final week of tho Fawcett Stock Company is at hand. Next week this organization, which has been delight ing Atlanta audiences since the latter part of May, will draw Its engagement to a dose when "East Lynne** will be the offering with the usual matinee*. The departure of this company from Atlanta will be a source of genuine and general regret, for by their efforts Atlanta has been furnished a source of delightful amusement throughout the heated season. • It is with the ob ject In view of giving the theatergoers a pleasant memory with which to re member tho company that sweet old play has been selected as the farewell vehicle. "Jane Eyro" This Weak. That "Jane Eyre” will never grow old In the minds of tho theatergoers Is evidenced by the large and apprecia tive audiences which attend each per formance of this delightful play as presented by the Fawcett Block Com puny at the Grand this week. The Saturday matinee, when the younger set will be there in full force, bids fair to break all records for attendance. In the title role Miss Wheatley has a part that suits her emotional nature well and one In which she is adding to her already well-deserved reputation us a versatile actress. Pastime Theater. Time can not wither nor custom stale tho Infinite variety of attractions as offered at the Pastime Theater, Peachtree street, this week. The vaude ville program as arranged there by the management is more complete In its conception and more exact in its exe cution than any yet booked. It is the universal comment that the bill Is the best of the season. The Musical Ktlpps do an act on every Instrument from which a sweet chord can be secured. Miss Anna Steinbom sings a series of sweet and sentimental ballads. 8L Nicholas Auditorium. Those who hav* not yet seen A. J. Self, the stilt skater, who 1« uppeartng nightly in the rink of the St. Nicholas uuditoriurn at Ponce DeLeon, have a treat In store any night this week at 9:30 o'clock. He has clearly demon strated his right to the title of being the most daring of all fancy skaters. He will give a special matinee Thurs day and Saturday afternoons imme diately ufter the Casino matinee turns out. There la skating at the rink three times dally, with music at each. Augusta, Ga., July 25.—-After a serv ice of nineteen years Miss Mattie D. Hopkins, delivery clerk at the Au gusta postofflee, has tendered her res ignation, to become effective August 1. The Augusta Chronicle, In discussing the resignation, says: It Is understood that there Is much. behind the resignation—-that Miss Hop- kins withdraws from the position not from choice, but because she has de tected a series of petty planning and ; scheming, having for its purpose net ultimate dismissal. She believed that A. W. Wimberly, colored, co-operated with Postmaster S. B. Vaughn, at least, In one Instance, to embarrass her in her work, and to provide a pitfall for her. In this frame of mind she has re signed." Postmaster S. B. Vaughn Is a Re publican, and has been identified for nome time with Republican politic, in Richmond county. A. \V. Wimberly, n negro.
