In broken English, he told of hla Ilf*

The promptness with which he was

The three dogs, followed by O(fleers

Do wasps' nests make good fish
bait?
City Attorney James L. Mayaon,
probable candidate for congress and
orstwhlle follower of the plsoatorial
sport, thinks that they do—a few of
them, at least. v
Recently Mr. Mavaon decided to
spend a day angling for the finny
tribe and he told a small boy to bring
him a nice big wasps' neat and ho
would give him a quarter. Then he
dismissed the matter from hts mind
until the expected fish bait should
arrive.
The bait arrived all right Ip due
process of time, but In a quantity
quite unexpected.
It happened that the small boy
first entrusted with the task of get
ting Into wasps' nest transmitted the
news to another. By him It was
passed on to others and In a short
while the Information was noised
abroad, and every small boy who
heard about It sklddoned to the brush
in search of wasps' nests for the city
attorney.
It waa a good year for wasp# and
they found them all right. Thursday
and Friday the office of the attorney
I In the Century building was flooded
with waap neats of all shapes and
sixes. They came singly. In pairs and
then In bunches until the city attor
ney could scarcely reach over tha pllo
ti. touch the hand of the small boy
on the other aide.
The climax waa reached when one
boy more sealoua than the rest, lug
ged In a gigantic nest and Inquired:
"Want any hornets 1”
"Beat It. Sklddoo. Twenty-three.
Back to the briar patch,” yelled the
city attorney. In amaxement the kid
fled to the elevator and the work of
clearing the Century building of waap
neats was begun.
