A civil engineer once told a railroad president that he could send a lo
comotive anywhere that a goat could climb.
We can do more—we can send Chamberlin-Johnson-DuBose Co. any
where that a postage stamp will go.
In other words this store is no farther away from you, when it comes
to shopping, than the nearest mail box or postofflce.
I
With the fast trains and the rural delivery, reaching the farthest cor
ners of every state and county, shopping by mail has become an easy, sim
ple, pleasant matter.
Here is a great store, which with its octopus-like arms reaches to the
four corners of the world and brings the products of the world, together
and reduces the whole operation down to a system that makes it possible
for you to buy a few yards of Val lace or a suit of furniture with as
much ease and assurance as though you were at the counter.
It is a department in itself with its head and staff of able sales peoplo
whose sole business is to look after the out-of-town customers.
They number into the thousands. Patrons buying month after month,
many of whom we have never seen, and who have never been in the
store.
