Many opinions are being expressed on the
situation Iti.the yarn market ns It exists
todsy. and some of the most reliable houses
here are firmly of the opinion that a stop
could be put to the reckless selling of yarns
and breaking of prices bv dealers, If spin
ners refused to' sell their yarns outright
but consigned them to reliable houses In
this market. The representative of a prom
inent house, lu discussing the situation yes
terday, said:
“We consider the present demoralised
condition of the market duo In great part
to the * fact that there are a few of the
latgo houses who have bought very heavily
of yarn* In anticipation of n continued
strong market, and they have found It nec*
rasnry to unload In order to meet obliga
tions nnd'have been sacrificing prices In «
reckless milliner. The mills have lost entire
control of the market because they have
