NOTES ON GRAIN Pointers on Provisions. (From Hayward, VIek A Clark.) Chicago, Ocf. 19.—Bartlett, Frnah*r & Car rington: The situation to pm looks ex tremely bullish on wheat. Tho demand fur corn the Inst day or two has not been good, but we expeel receipts to run light after the 1st of month. The demand for cash oats was much bet ter yesterday. We do not look for much further decline. Chicago Itecord-IIernld: Popular sentiment In wheat has veered sharply to the selling side. Tight money, which has lieen largely Ignored In tho grain trade until now, became a very live nud potent factor yesterday. Au Increasing number of western nud northwestern grain meu, falling to get adequate accommoda tions at their home bunks, were making pil grimages bore. Some were supplleil but all paid high rates. COTTON REGION BULLETIN. .tor the 24 henrs ending at I meridian time, October 19. 1907. TIPS FLASHED From Wall Street. Town Topics: The feeling of pes simism la more pronounced than ever nnd an erratic market la naturally to be looked for today. The fact] that banks are discriminating more •'and more against Industrial collateral leads to the belief that there will be much more selling In this section of the list, and we think lower prices will prevail. At the same time short selling is attended with considerable risk now and we would advise the short side only on the rallies and in those stocks where the greatest amount of liquidation Is still to be expected. The Steel shares, com mon and preferred, as far as we are able to learn, will be under severe pressure of long stock, and the same may be said of the Copper and Smelt ing issues, while practically the only buying of Importance going on In this section Is by the shorts. There are weak places still to be liquidated among the rails, and until the selling of this nature Is completed we do not look for any great Improvement. The bank statement outlook Is favorable, and a moderate Increase In surplus reserves Is likely, but money will be tight, at least for the rest of the month. We look for lower prices generally today. Unless very unfavorable weather de velops we would sell cotton on all bulges. Buy wheat only for turns on sharp breaks. THE SUGAR MARKET. New York. Oct. 19.—The domestic refined uly.
