ton, who hu jutt been released from
Jail under a heavy bond, shot and prob
ably totally wounded the oldeat son of
C. V. Mahoney yeaterday. It Is said that
Crumpton was drinking. About two
months ago, while acting as police, he
shot and killed Joe Morrison, a negro,
and tor thle be was awaiting trial, and
by the preelstent efforts of Mahoney he
secured his release Friday. Tlia par
ticulars of tha shooting can not bo ob
tained at present, but It Is learned that
the boy was shot with a II-caliber pis.

upon the announced Intention of Sen
ator Mallory, of Florida, not to be a
candidate for re-election, K, E. Reese,
of Pensacola,.now In Washington, said

of paralysis about two week* ago, but
was recovering.

county division of tbe Farmers' Union
met at the court house In Gainesville
and elected the following officers:
President, W. N. Edwards: vice
president, D. N. Jordan; secretary,
treasurer and trade agent, T. M.
Smith; chaplain, J. H. Holcomb; door-
keper. Gordon Thompson: lecturer, J.
N. Twltty. The Farmers’ Union In
Hall county has a large membership;
In fact, Hall Is one of the strongest
union counties In the state, and Its
membership la Increasing. President
Edwards and Secretary Smith were re
elected. The date of the county meet
ings were changed from the second
Thursday In each month to the second
Tuesday In each month.
Dr. Jordan Goes to Cuba,
Jackson Hill Baptist church was
crowded Sunday to hear tha Christmas
sermon of Rev. John D. Jordan, de
livered In advance owing to his de
parture Monday evening for Cuba on a
vacation continuing to January 4. Dur.
