The freight house will be, possibly i)0 feet long and the wharf will extend along Its entire front. The lower story will be built with brick or stone to se cure It from dangers from the river. The plans for a third ship have also 'jeen discussed, and the officials will let the contract at an early date, It Is re ported. When the work on the Macon landing Is completed the company will begin negotiations with a view to erect !ng a similar landing at Brunawick. In the event that the three ships al> ready In course of erection prove OS he profitable, a move will be made to extend the enterprise to other rivers thun the Ocmulgee. This Is the case where Mr. nalley was hit over the head by Dr. A. C. Holliday some weeks ago. NEGRO RAI8ED CHECK, THE POLICE ALLEGE. Speclnl to The Georgina. Macon, Ga., Dec. 23,—William Tay lor, a negro employee of the Southern railway, was locked up at police station late Saturday afternoon on a charge of raising a check and attempting to pass it at the saloon of J. W. DeVane. The check w’as raised from 322.77 to $55.77. It called forth the suspicions of the saloon keeper, which were later corrob orated by Officer Robinson, who was called In to make the arrest. Macon, Ga., Dec. 21.—As coon as the morning passenger trains began to ar rive In Macon Saturday, each crowded with Christmas passengers, the mer chants began a rush which was the heaviest In years. Dec. 21.—A meeting of the National Guard of Georgia was held Saturday afternoon In the parlors of the Lanier hotel, for the purpoee of reorganising the Georgia dlvlelon of the National Guard Association. The ofdcers elected for :ho coming year v.ore: Colonel W. A. Harris, of Ma con, president; Major J. D. Dunwody, of Atlentu, secretary and treasurer. The delegates chosen to the national convention, which meets In Boston, January 3, were Major J. O'Leary and Adjutant General A. J. Bcott. A number of bills pending In con gress were discussed. Macon, Ga., Dec. 23.—Will Jakes, a negro, familiarly known to the offlcera of the city, was looked up yesterday by Olflcer Tom Jones, of the city detect ive department, on a chanfe of selling whisky. Officer Jones had suspected the negro was selling whisky for sev eral days, and sent an agent to him to make a purchase. The scheme was successful, and Will afterwards ac knowledged having several pints and a Jugful! In readiness for his eas terners. CONFESS CAiTbREAKING AND ARE BOUND OVER. Specie I to The Georgian. Macon. Ga., Dec. 23.—J. P. Newell. W. Davenport and M. A. Butler, the three men arrested n few days ago by the local police on a charge of car breaking, were bound over to the city court under heavy bonds. Newell and Davenport entered the plea of guilty end Imd their bonds fixed at 1100, but Butler stubbornly maintained his Inno cence and was held under n bond of J50O. The supreme court of the United States Is due to announce Its decision as to whother It will review the Judg ment of the lower courts that sen tenced them to prison for four years and to pay more than Half a million dollars fine each. Greene and Gaynor are said to have little hope that the court will grant their prayer. The government has spent over >200,000 In prosecuting these men. C., Dsc. 23.—Joe Lance, who shot off a revolver from a passen ger train “Just to hear It sound,” he said, killing Miss Althea Green, a 10- year-old girl, near Buena Vista, was brought here last night for safe keep Ing. At the coroner’s Inquest the ver diet was that Miss Green came to her death by a pistol wound at the hands of Joe Lance. While the Inquest was being held passenger train No. 6 was flagged and the trainmen ordered tn stop and testify. Ths train was held for about one-halt an hour. Budapest, Dec. 23.—The duel be tween Dr. Weikerle, the "premier, and Minister or Justice Polonyl. as a result of a speech of the premier. In which he attacked Polonyl. was fought yester day. Dr. Weikerle was larger and stronger than his opponent, and press ed him from the beginning. The wea pons used were swords. In the second bout. Dr. Weikerle got thru his opponent's guard twice and dealt him two blows on the body with the flat of his sword. MAJ. CURRY’S BODY IS NOW AT REST IN ARLINGTON Washington, Dec. 31—The burial of Major Manley B. Curry, who woe killed in nn automobile accident in Atlanta, took place In Arlington cemetery, Sun day afternoon. The body reached Washington at 1 o'clock, over the Southern, accompanied by Benator Bacon and tha widow and children of the deceased. Several offlcera from the war de partment and an escort of soldiers ac companied the remains. The cere monies were brief. Senator Bacon and the family of Major Curry left Imfhe- dlately for Atlanta. Dec. 22.—During the perform- • ace of "Daniel Boone" at the opera hows Mrs. Leons Leslie and Oscijr O’Shee, who tike leading parts, were badly Injured on tha stage hy a hug* wolf. The actress and actor were In the scene where Daniel Boone rescues his sweetheart from the den of wolves Into which the Indian, "Black Klib," had thrown her. When Mrs. Leslie was thrown Into the den, the wolf attacked her end tore her arm and side. The girl eereemeil end O’Shea leaped Into the den and tore the Ctrl from the wolf. -The animal then turned on O'Hhea and tore hit leg. Bob Harris, a real Catawba Indian, who waa standing near, attacked the animat and drove him track Into his den. The audience witnessed the scent end stampeded when It realised that the attack of the wolf wne a roal one. Their Injuries will keep Mrs. Leelie and O’Shea from acting for several dsys.
