The reception tendered Governor
Harmon by the Unlveralty club on
Wednesday evening was a brilliant and
Interesting occasion. Tile guest* were
received by Governor John M. Slaton,
president of the club, and .Mrs. Slaton.
The olllcers and members of the board,
with their wives, assisted In enter
taining.
The apartments were handsomely
dOcorateo In palms, ferns and Hags,
and an orchestra played throughout the
evening.
Among the notable guests preaent
besides the distinguished guest of hon
or were Hon. John Temple Graves, of
New York, and Mr. C. A. Cobb, presi
dent of- the Mississippi Agricultural
college. ,
Mrs. Slaton was handsomely gowned
In white laco over satin, with touches
of blue. She' wore handsome dia
monds and was very lovely.
Among the ladles of the assisting
party, all of whom were handsomely
gowned, were a number of Atlanta's
popular matrons. Mrs. Lowry Porter
was In bluo chiffon over satin. .Mrs.
J. R. A. Hobson wore del blue char-
me use veiled In black. Mrs. Ten Eyck
Brown was In black velvet trimmed In
Irish crochet. Mrs. James N. Ellis wore
a Paris gown ■ of chiffon embroidered
in green anfd black Jet, finished In Jet
fringe and made over rose pink char-
meuse, bordered In hand-painted sweet-
peas. Mrs. James S. Floyd wore a
ovoly white laco gown over white satin
with blue trimmings. Mrs. A. B. Kel
logg was beautiful In a gown of black
satin ftnd lace, her corsage bouquet of
deep red roses. Mrs. James Kilpatrick
was gowned In white lace with blue on
the corsage, made over white silk.
The occasion was marked by a de
lightful Informality and was much en
joyed by the large number of guests
present.
