Donato, or Dennla, as he was some
times known in the locality of the Mor
ner farm, had nearly three days ftart
confidence thik( tie would noon be cap*
tured, Altho the bloodhounds lost the
scent at Rnyders crossing, a trolley line
station about four miles from the Mor
ner farm, the detectives and police ul
timately traced Donato to Hudson. N.
Y., where the railroad ticket agent de
clared that he had sold a tlpkct to
Pittsfield, Mass., to an Italian exactfv
answering Donato's description.
The mystery of the motive for the
brutal crime, and the baffling dtaap-
pearnnee of the accused man deepened
hourly today.? altho the search grew
more vigorous.
The three most likely theories held
by the authorities were that Donato
had quarreled with his employer, Ar
thur Morner* who managed the farm

for his mother, and had slain him, aft
erwards killing the other members of
the family* to hide his crime; that he
had attacked one or both of the daugh*
tefs and later killed the family to cover
up his outrage, or that he had sud
denly been transformed from the silent#
mild-mannered little man that the fam
ily and entire country-side had known,
and turned into a murdering assassin.
Detectives went to Pittsfield last
will attend the centennial celebration
of the Hlberniun society at Huvannuh

tentative promise to attend a meeting

are working under the direction of
Sheriff Cottrell, was the discovery of a
letter to Donato In a room In the MoN
ner household addressed to the Ital
ian’* father. This letter stated that
Donato had become tired of America
and prepared to return home. How
ever, It bore no address. The clew con-'
talned ln the letter, combined with the
information given by the ticket agent
at Hudson# led to the belief that Do
nato might have gone to Norton with
the Idea of sailing for Italy from that
port.

Movement Will Distribute
Bibles to Prisoners.
The plan uf the Men and Religion
Forward Movement to present during
Christmas week a gift and a copy of
the Gospel by St. John to each of the
7.000 convicts and prisoners In Georgia
Is meeting with the enthusiastic co
operation of -the Sunday schools all
over the state.
Just a week ago the executive com
mittee of the Men and Religion For
ward Movement communicated with
one man In each county In the state
asking that he secure the aid of his
Sunday schools and co-operate In the
big movement to brighten the lives of
so many unfortunate men. Already a
number of responses have been, re
ceived by Louis J. Bernhardt, who Is
attending to many of the details of the
big undertaking, and practically all
writers pledge the co-operation of their
counties. . .

bution of the 76 Bibles and will hold a
service at-one camp himself. Other
ramps will have services conducted hy
Rev. A. M. Williams, of the First
Methodist church: 'by Rev. W, A. Talia
ferro. of tho Baptist church, and at an
other camp the service will be conduct
ed by Rev. <V E. Jackson, pastor of the
Christian church.
From many of the towns the numb
of convicts In camp near By Is very
small nnd In the county In which Sum
merville Is located there la not a single
convict.
Among the enthusiastic letters re
ceived Is one from Rev. Frank Siler,
now of Gainesville. He states that the
Sunday schools In that cltv will follow
the pUh of the Men and Religion For
ward Movement.
An answer Has been' received from
Rev. W. G. Hamby, of Barnesvllle. Ho
praise* the movement, asks for copies
of the gospel for the 46 prisoners In his
county and pledges his co-operation.
Similar letters have been received
from Reese Griffin, of Nashville; from
Rev. R. r. Cteckler. of Cedartown: from
H. Emory, of Falrburn, and others.
Thru the work of the local committee
of the Men and Religion Forward
Movement Chairman R. E. Davison has
offered the eo-operatlon In the plan of
the prison committee of the state, and
that body wl|l instruct the wardens of
every convict camp to look out for the
Sunday school workers and assist them
In every way when thev come to pre
sent their gifts and hold the Christmas
service.
