The game selected for the evening was progressive whist. Miss Nancy Le Farmer; the guest of Miss Fhebe Kirk, w oat he ladles' prize. Mr. Charles IV. Fulford won the gentlemen's prize.. Light refreshments were served after the game. The house was prettily decorated for the occasion with holly and mistletoe. The hostess wore a red satin dress trimmed with gold. A beautiful event of the 28tli was the wedding of Miss Ethel Tedder, of Chambers, and Mr. George P. Byrd, of Atlanta, at the home of the bride. The house was beautifully decorated with palms and ferns and trailing vines, green and white being used throughout the apartments open to guests. Before the ceremony Mrs. Cleve Webb, of At lanta, wearing a gown of peagreen satin brocade, sang beautifully "A Sweeter Story Still." The wedding march was Played by Mr. W. Omar Ween*, of Rome, who played "Hearts and Flow ers" during the impressive cjremony, which was performed by Rev. Walker Lewis, who was met at the improvised altar of ferns and palms t>y the bride groom and his best man, Mr. Clarence Byrd. The maid of honor. Miss Farris, lartown, entered alone, followed of Oedartown, _. - . by the bride on the arm of her father. The maid of honor wore cream cloth embroidered, and carried an armful of bride’s roses. The bride’s gown was trimmed with point lace and. she car ried a shower bouquet of bride's rosea. A delicious supper was served buffet, lifter which the bride and bridegroom left for the East. The attractive rooms were decorated In a wealth of red carnations, polnset- tla blossoms, etc., and there were hand some palms and foliage plants effect- ' ely arranged. Smllax formed an effeotlve mural decoration and throughout the house there were pretty decorations and tho happiest spirit of hospitality. Mrs. Scott and Miss Mooney received their guests In the ltvmg room, where the decorations were of red carnations and potnaettla blossoms, and assisting in receiving were Mrs. James Scott Ison, Miss Katherine Callaway of La- Grange and Mias Emma Scott. Dellcloua refreshments were served In the dining room, where the table was covered with a handsome lace alo’.h and had for a centerpiece a Marie An toinette basket filled with red rosea and white hyacinths, the handle tied with red tulle. The silver candlesticks held red tapers and the bonbons were In red and white, as were all tne appointments of the pretty table. Punch was served In the den. where vaaea of red carnations were effectively arranged, and there were handsome palms. The punch table was presided over by Miss Margaret Northen and Miss Imogens Thom. Witham gavd a musical at the Federal prison, the en tertainment possessing all of the en joyable features of the following pro gram: Selection, by St. Mark choir. Vocal Solo—Mrs. Ransom Wright, accompanied by Mlsa Jennie Mobley. Vocal Solo—Mr. Shirley V. Brooks, accompanied by Mra. Brooks. Violin Solo—Signor Tovar, accompa nied by Miss Bartholomew, Selections, by St, Mark choir. Vocal Solo—Mrs. Thorne Flagler. Piano Selections—Mrs. Witham. Mr. Witham was master of cere monies and gave a most Interesting and highly humerous talk. He was ap plauded by the large audience. He also gave several musical selections on the xylophone. A decidedly entertaining and bcautl- fut selection was the splendidly ren dered cornet solo by one of the men of the prison orchestra. This orchestra Is one of tho flnest and best trained or ganizations to be heard In Atlanta. AH training has been done by Professor Matthlessen and the outcome of his earnest direction has made music of wonderful sweetness. Grove public school and Sunday school en SANTA VI8ITS CHILDREN'S ROOM AT CARNEGIE LIBRARY Miss Hattie Colquitt, who Is at the head of the children's department of the Carnegie library, gave the children who called last Saturday a delightful and unheralded treat, in the beautifully decorated room, with Santa Claus and a Christmas tree, stories of Christmas and so forth- All this week the chi! dren's room at the nubile library has been a Joy to the little ones coming In for books. In the ffreploce is a Jolly Santa Claus climbing up thd chimney, nnd behind him a soft red light glows. C„ which took place at the home of the bride's pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Francis Walker. ReV. J. S. L. Sapplngton was the officiating minister, and Miss Ruby Grogan was maid of honor. The ribbon bearers were little Misses Rena Dav enport, Annie Lizzie Lively, Nell Kim ball and Edna Wooddlo. Little Louise Martin was flower girl. Miss Sophia Myers, Miss Ethel Simpson, Miss Nina McElroy, Miss Minnie Alma Medlock, Miss Mattie Wall, Miss Sarah McEl roy and Miss Mattie Kimball sang Lohengrin's bridal chorus. The bride entered with her maid of honor to the strains of Mendelssohn’s wedding march, rendered by Miss Ida Wootten, and was met at the altar by the bride groom and his best man, Mr. H. A. Sims.
