mmm NEW SHOPS Owned and Operated by the Engineering Department of N. P. PRATT LABORATORY ATLANTA, GEORGIA, Situated On Georgia Railroad At Kirkwood Directly on the main lim* of the Georgia railroad at Kirkwood, just east of the city limits and on both of the Decatur electric car lines, lias just been completed one of the most important of Atlanta’s many new’ and magnificent enterprises. These works designed, erected and equipped complete by the Engineering De partment of N. P. Pratt Laboratory, represent all that is most modern in machine shop and foundry practice. The buikun^ are of >teel and of fire proof construc tion throughout, and the equipment is second to no plant North or South. All ma chine tools •being individually aud electrically driven permit, the unobstructed travel of massive overhead electric cranes for the haudliug of all classes of heavy work with ease and precision. The various departments have been designed nud equipped to provide what has ro long beeu needed in this sectiou in the way of n complete Machine Shop and Foundry, capable of handling promptly, accurately and economically any work re quired of it. The works have been erected primarily to cover all branches of heavy machine shop and foundry work, aud particularly for the well kuown Pratt fertilizer machin ery and sulphuric acid appliances. In addition "to this line of manufacture, they will cater to the wants of its many patrons in other lines of work, which its modern equip ment will enable it to care for to their best interests. The plant is also equipped to handle the demands of brick yards, quarries, mines, mills, etc., aud will manufacture n full line of transmission, crushing and pul verizing machinery. Sugar Mill Machinery, Content Mill Machinery, etc., etc. Inquiries are solicited for heavy eastings in steel, semi-steel, * iron, ' brass, bronzes and special alloys. The equipment is also selected to handle any line of speeial machinerv or re pairs, aud all work will be economically and effectively executed. The city office of Fulton Foundry aud Machine* Works will hereafter be lo cated at the office building of the city works of N. P. Pratt Laboratorv, corner Au burn avenue'and Courtiand street. The development of the Engineering Department of the Laboratorv has been sharp, effective and heavy and the entire South is dotted with large industrial en terprises of different kinds which have been successfully engineered and erected by this company. More than thirty-eight chemical works, besides power plants, electric plants and similar industries, have been successfully put into operation bv them, and the progressiveness and modem methods pursued have won Universal recognition and favor. In 1897 the Star Foundry and Machine Works was incorporated, aud in De cember. 1898, the title of the corporation was changed to Fulton Foundry aud Ma chine Works. On January 1st. 1904. the N. P. Pratt Laboratory purchased the en tire stock of I*niton Foundry aud Machine Works, and has siuce’mq the plant at its old stand on Marietta street. -During this time demauds made upon the plant were far in excess of the capacity of its equipment, and it was finally concluded to purchase the site, which lias since beeu bought at Kirkwood, and erect thereon the modern works as shown and described above. Mr. George L. Pratt, the efficient .vice-president of the Laboratorv. will have personal direction of the entire business of Fulton Foundrv and Machine* Works un der the general direction of the president. Mr. N.
