beka Lodge, No. 24, 1. O. O. F„ met
Thuraday night and waa attended by
a large delegation who came out for
the purpose of hearing the reports of
the representatives to the state assem
bly.

resolutions on the death of H. C. Pats,
a member of Liberty lodge of Bogart,
Oh.
After this Sister Thomas drlted the

iSPLENDID SESSION IS HELD
IN ALBANY BY THE B. P. 0. E.
The state convention of Elks this
week In Albany waa a pronounced suc
cess In every respect. The members
of the order throughout the state ore
greatly pleased with the session, and
pronounce It one of the most enjoyable
In the history of the state organiza
tion.
The state body was In session two
days, and during this time much
business, of Interest to Georgia Elks
was given attention. Representatives
were present from all subordinate
lodges of the order In the state, and, In
addition, many visitors thronged the
city.
The occasion waa marked by numer
ous social features, all of which were
greatly enjoyed. Tho Albany Elks
were active In their efforts to give the
visitors a good time, nnd In this they
succeeded admirably. In many ways,
they rendered the session enjoyehte.
On the opening day of the session,
the chief feature was a big street pa
rade, which proved one of the best
ever seen In Albany. Hundreds of
Elks were In line, and made a splendlc
Impression. The parade was followed
by an open session, during which ad
dresses of welcome were delivered.
Home was chosen as the place for
the next annual meeting.

the various features Immensely.- At
least, the members of the temple en
joyed the proceedings.
On last Wednesday eletp at the
eighth run the council fire of Silver
Cloud Council, D. of P„ was kindled
with a large number present.
The entertainment committee report
ed favorably on the moonlight picnic
and it was agreed to hold It at Oakland
City ’cue grounds at an early date. This
.will be determined next Wednesday

Daniel N. Lockwood Claimed by
Death at His Home in
Buffalo.

Buffalo, N. Y., June 2,—After being

the Hon. Daniel N. Lockwood, one of
Buffalo’a beat known and moat in
fluentlal cltlxena, died at hi* home
here yesterday.
About two week, ago, Mr. Lockwood
had hi* laft leg amputated above the
knee. It waa the third operation on
the member. 8om* time ago, blood
polaonlng act In on the left foot, and,
after a consultation of phyalclans and
aurgeona, It waa deemed advlaable to
amputate the foot.
He waa a member of rnngresa from
1277 to 12*6. and waa a delegate to the
Democratic National convention! of
1226 and 1214. He nominated Grover
Cleveland for mayor of Buffalo, for
governor of New York and for presi
dent.

Governor Elbert became u Mason in

he was presented by the grand lodge
with the grand master's Jewel.
