Two gnmea won for Atlanta will put the Crackera tied for drat place with New Or leans, provided Shreveport loses one game In the meantime. Gee, It Inoka like n rlorh. Of rourse, it la not so easy to win the next two from New Orlenna, hut anyway they will come liefore long. After leaving Atlanta the Pelicans fly to Montgomery, where they are sure of warm reception: while, the Pirates sail to Birmingham, where trouble awaits them. And when that switch takes place Mem phis cornea to Atlanta for n aeries. When the end of those games cornea Atlanta may be leading the league. Bender won the second game for Connla Mack's oiicc- chaiuploiis. New Orleans Is on the down slant. That shut-out by Memphis Sunday was a hard blow. Manuel pitched good hall, but Llch- hnrdt pitched better. The gentleman with the "Hutch" name seems to lie the star of the Bluff City twirling staff. O'Brien, the Pelican third bnsetnan, played a tidy game Saturday. He lient down several Mizzling shots along his alley. nnd scooped up hnnts on the dead run. He la about the cleverest third liugmon seen at Piedmont this year. Fox "wasn't dolug #o had" Saturday. He hit for two doublet nnd n single, and scored three runs. Fox has It ou nny first basemen seen In this neck of the woods. Loucks and Phillips struck out two bats men each Saturday. ATHLETIC CLUB MAY HAVE TENT CAMP AT EAST LAKE The latest scheme to further popularise the batidvouie country club department of the Atlanta Athletic Club la a summer camp, at which the tnemliers nr© to live during the warm months to be within easy rcncli of the club grounds and the many privileges that they offer. The scheme originated with F. G. Byrd, no of the club’s moat enthusiastic mem bers, who la himself spending the summer near the club grounds. It Is fils plan to cstob||ah a tent camp, provide a cook nnd throw It open to the mendiers of the At lanta Athletic Club. A small sum would charged weekly to pay the expenses nnd for the wear oh the cnuiplitg outfit. The cniup would he run at cost, however, and this tent life would prove a cheap, aa well as a very plensant, wny of spending the summer. The camp would not he pitched on eluh grounds, hut would lie within striking dls- t a lice of the teiiqla courts, golf grounds slid the lake, and .vet would lie so near to This sehem© seems to need only a start to he n huge suecess. Another plnn which It proposed for the entertainment of the club memtiera la a regntfn. With canoes and boats galore and with all kinds of enthusiasm In canoe ing. rowing, sailing and swimming It looks ns though u regiBta could t»e made n huge success. As far as Is known no official action has been taken by the club, but the mem bra nre euthuslnstlc over the plau and are Instating It vigorously. The courts of the club are In active use these days with the players who are pre paring for the Southern Tennis chniuplou- ship, which Is uow so uenr nt band. League Standings, j Shreveport . .
