Dayton, Ohio, Juno 6.—The yearly
convention of the old German llnptl.it
church, commonly called Dunknrds,
opened a week's xci.ilon yesterday at
Englewood, near thla city. It la esti
mated that there are IS,000 delegates
and visitors present. They have been
coming from all over the United
states for the past ten days In vehicles
or trains and many walking. They
are camping In the woods and are be
ing fed on the grounds.
The program consists of several ser
mono by Dunkard ministers, both men
and women, a barbecue, for which
twenty beeves, TOO barrels of apple
hutter and other edibles In proportion
have been ordered, a public foot wash
ing of the members of the church and
a grand song service at midnight Sun-

r The church has decided that next
year It will hold Its convention some
place In California.
The membership In this neighbor
hood and the Miami valley Is very
large and with the possible exception
of Pennsylvania, Ohio Is the strongest
state in numbers.

John P. Keller and hie wife at Ninety-

Hamilton, John Kelly, one of the
gueets. was shot dead early today by
John Kilbride, whb Is said to have been
an attentive admirer of his victim's
wife.
Mrs. Kelly threw herself between her
husband and Kilbride In the deeperate
fight to prevent tjie tragedy which all
present knew to be Inevitable. The
unhappy woman received In her own
breast one of the bullets Intended for
Kelly and her chance for life le about

hospital, guarded by a policeman whose

A general police alarm has been nut
for Kilbride, and a doxen detectives

Tuesday morning bsfore , Recorder
Broyles on the charge of drunkenness,
he related a remarkable story.
He told the recorder a stranger met
him Monday and Invited him to take a
drink or sotln water. He accepted the
Invitation and declared that after
drinking the beverage, he suddenly lost
consciousness and remembered noth
ing more for a long while.
Judge Broyles said he could hardly
believe this story. He put the boy on
probation, remarking:
‘‘Walter, the next time a stra
asks you to drink soda water
him, you run—run as hard aa you can
and gst away from him. Don’t take
any more chances like this.”

up the chase and caught the offender.
Shebachowlts said that he was hun

main building on the campus presented
the appearance of a vast basaar, ao

exhibits held there. There, exhibits,
representing as they did the average
of the work done In .each Industrial and
academic branch, epitomized the pro
gress made during the present term,
and gave the Visitor a complete Idrn of
the aims and scope of the Georgia
Normal and Industrial College.
The Model School.
No phase of education Is at present
receiving more attention In Georgia
than the methods of the model or prac
tice school. In which the child acquires
po knowledge which le unrelated to a
certain task set for him by his teacher.

of primer of the universe, comprising,

real live onex, and growing plants.
There wns shown cotton In every stage
of development from seed to cotton
goods. There were tiny baskets, end
pven garments made by the children
themselves. And In the two rooms de
voted to this exhibit, nothing could be
found whlrh does not have lie practical

ups. Thus lit a model school are tiny
tot* taught. "In termx of play," every
branch of Industrial work.
Exhibit In Dressmaking.
An exhibit In dressmaking proved In
terestlng because so far removed from
anything amateurish. Two large rooms
were given over to the work of the
sewing close. There were on exhibit
score* of pieces of lingerie, and several
doxen hats, etery one of which did
honor to the sartorial art. About n
