lahoma to the Pueblo, Oklahoma and
New Orleans railroad, with $2,600,-
000 capital stock. The proposition is to
build a railroad from Pueblo, Colo.,
to New Orleans, a distance of 1.060
mile*.
It Is rumored that the proposed 21,-
000,000 Canadian plant of the United
States Steel Corporation will be built
at Sandwich, Ont., opposite Detroit.
The corporation haa recently acquired

The Organ Mountain Railroad Com
pany has been chartered In Texas with
a capital stock of $100,000. The com
pany purposes to construct a line from
El Paso to a point on the boundary
line between Texas and New Mexico.
The Harrlman Interests are con
structing a road, 80 miles In length,
from Drain, on the Mount Shasta route,
In Oregon, southwesterly to Marsh
field, on Coos bay, In the same state.
Thla road will form the northern por
tion of a new coast line between San
Francisco and Portland, thus connect
ing those cites by two steel highways.
The Western Pacific tracks and those
of the Rio Grande Western have been
Joined In Salt Lake City. Thla junction
marks the birth of the Gould new
trans-continental road with Salt Lake

travel between Mexico and the United

Alabama Infantry regiment will go Into
camp with the regular soldiers, and
that la the First regiment, under com
mand of Colonel R. P. DuMont, of Mo
bile. This regiment has been ordered
by the governor Into camp at Chick-
amauga Park during the latter part of
July until August 5. This regiment la
composed of twelve companies and Is
about 600 strong.

DISCOVERED IN PORTUGAL

Glasgow, June 12.—Two allegorical
paintings by Paul Veronese have Just
been discovered In Portugal, belonging
to the O'Neil family, the descendant
of the celebrated Scotch clan. These
two paintings, "La Bagasse," compan
ion of Hercules, and "Paul Veronese,
between "Le Vice et la Vertue," are of
the same kind aa four works belonging
to the National Gallery. They were
part of the collection of the Regent
Philip of Orleans, and had passed Into
the hand* of King Gustavius Adolphus,
who took them In 1631 from the duke of
Prague.
