Despite the Inclemency of the weather on Tuesday evening a number of music lovers gathered at the home of Mr. Harry Silverman, on Rawson street, to hear Mr. Herbert Dlttler, the gifted young violinist, perform. Mr. Dlttler gave four numbers, each of them selected with such discrimination and rendered so perfectly, that It would be Impossible to make distinctions In praising them. His work gave evidence of the rare privilege which le In store for the music lovers of Atlanta when he appears at the Bijou June 18. Notwithstanding the exceedingly In clement weather of Tuesday evening, a number of music-lovers and critics as sembled at the splendid new First Baptist church to enjoy a program of rare excellence, both vocal and instru- mental. The elxe of the audience which braved the fierce elements Tuesday evening Indicated that had the weath er been In any wise propitious, the seating capacity of the church would have been taxed to Its utmost. The organ numbers by Mr. J. O'Donnelly were beautifully rendered, and embraced eelectlane from the most celebrated composers of organ music. Mr. O’Donnelly'a mastery of the magnificent new organ was com plete and absolute, and was delightful ly evidenced In the varied composi tions played by him. The solos by Mre. Peyton If. Todd, Miss Marguerite Dunlap and Messrs. Davis and Scott were notable and delightful features of the very artistically presented pro gram. The chorus work was excep tionally fine, Indicating the most careful training and the most Intelll gent appreciation of the genius of the composers by the soloists, as well as by the chorus.
