Captain Johnson, in the office of the secretary of state, has made'perfectly accurate maps of the eight counties, but the seal of approval has never been set on them by the general assembly. ARTILLERYMEN HURT-BIO HEAD As the resalt of the premature dtacliarge of a esnuon during the sham battle of the Fifth Georgia regiment Wednesday after noon at Piedmont park, Frank B. Tidwell and Rufus Ellis, two of the artillerymen, were' painfully Injured. At the time of the explosion, Tidwell wna engaged In reloading the piece and Ellis was bolding his thumb over the fuse hols to keep oat the air. It Is supposed the fuse hole was not securely covered by EIUs, thus letting In tha air and causing the premature discharge. Tidwell was ramming the load and the ram rod was shot out of his hands Into the plasa some distance away, the gun being stationed on the hillside In front of the government building. Tidwell's right band was badly lacerated and burned. Bllis* thumb was sprained by the roaens- slou and hta hand burned. Had It not been far the fact that Tid well was conforming strictly to the regu lations. his srm would doubtless have been blown off. A great crowd of people waa In the street and about the depot and the af fair caused a lively atlr. Policemen Starnes and Roner, plain clothes of' fleers, were near by, and. rushing to the scene, took Williams Into custody before he had done any serious damage to the woman. After William, waa taken to a police signal box In Wall street to await the arrival of a patrol wagon, he ia said to have acted In a very disorderly man ner, cursing wildly. Numbers of ladle* were passing through Wall atreet at the time and wen compelled to change their course. On arrival at the police station, Wil liams contlnusd his disorderly conduct As a result ot hla wild rampage three cases were entered against him and were tried Thursday morning before Recorder Broyles. Williams denied he had done any thing wrong at all. After hearing the evidence Judge Broyles imposed a fine of *35.7* In each of the three cases and ordered the prisoner held so hs can be further prosecuted In the state courts on the charge of using profane language In the presence of ladles.
