Mr. Bailey arraigned the Republican party for legislating, as he said, al ways In the Interests of the plutocrats. Continuing, he said: Now and then the Republican party makos the mistake of electing a man who now and then has an Impulse In unison with tho Interests of the Amer ican people. It has one now In tho person of Theodore Roosevelt. He hus an occasional Impulse toward the American people, but It la not very strong, nor does It lost.” People's Money Token. McIntyre, Ga., July 6.—Ben Huff shot and fatally wounded Dock Collins In a fight here yesterday at a Fourth July picnic. Collins Is a prosperous farmer and An uncle of the man w shot him. An unknown negro was also wound od by a stray bullet. A general stain ppde followed and great excitement reigned f-»r some time. BURDEN OF WHITE MAN IS THE THEME FOR BRYAN By Private Leased Wire. London, July 6.—"The While Man's Burden” waa the text of an ad dress delivered by William Jennings Bryan at tho Independenca Day din ner of the American Society at tho Hotel Cscll last night. There were about 600 persona at tho dinner, and they cheered patriotic sentiment at every opportunity. The health of King Edward waa proposed by Chairman F. W. Jones and Hayward Greenwood, president of the Canadian Society, and member of parliament for the city of York, proposed tho health of President Roose velt. When they aroee to drink to tha toasts the crowd discovered Mr. and Mr*. Nicholas Longworth In tho gallery, and cheered and drank her health. Mr. Bryan said no one can travel among the dark-aklnned race* of the Orient without feeling that the white man oocuples an especial favored poaltlon among the children of men. "There Is a white man's burden," aald Mr. Bryan, "a burden which tho white man should not shirk even If he could, a burden which be could not shirk if ho would. The fire originated at 2:80 o’clock the afternoon and burned till after mid night. The fire originated from a hot belt I the mill. The property Is amply Insured, but the loss la great, owing to the present high price and heavy demand for yellow pine.
