Th* Masonic convention of Chattooga county icu held on Wednesday and Thursday of this week at Summer ville, and was a pronounced success In every respect A large number of Masons were present from all sections of the coun ty. The session of Wednesday was devoted largely to the transaction of business, many matters of Importance to the members of the order being con sidered. Public exercises were held Thursday In the county court house, the spacious building being crowded with Masons and their friends. An address of wel come was delivered by Mayor Jesse Jolly, of Summe/-»,lle, and the response was made by Judge John W. Maddox, mayor of Rome. Other speeches were made by IlSn. B. F. Thurmond, of Lafayette; Grand Master Max Meyerhardt. of Rome; Grand Junior Warden George M. A big barbecue was served In the court house yard, which was one of the features of the occasion. Large numbers of ladles were present at the ‘cue. Thursday afternoon, the third degreo was conferred by grand lodge officers. Prominent member of tho Cobb County Mesonio Convention. MACCABEES TO HAVE FINEJRASS BAND Members of LaFayetto Tent Form ing Band for Open-Air Con certs and Other Occasions. The mombere of Lafayette tent of the Maccabees are organising a Maccabee band. Several well-known musicians have already expressed their willingness to join, and at the last review of this tent a committee, consisting of T. J. Miller, C. C. Head, J. H. Head, J. J. Brown and H. H. Butler, was appointed to perfect arrangements looking to Its early organisation. The Maccabees ' have nearly 100 bands throughout this country and Canada, being especially strong in the Northwest, where almost every little hamlet that has a Maccabee tent has a Maccabee band alto. As Lafayette tent has so many mu sicians, It will not be long until the people In the vicinity of their hall will be treated to open air concerts. NEW K. OF P. LODGE AT CRAWFORDVILLE,- GA. On Tuesday night a now lodge of Knight, of Pythias was Instituted at Crswfordvllle. The work of Institution was In charge of the lode* from Wash ington.
