Frank Buffington, a negro, was found
guilty yesterday In the superior court
of assault on Tom Clarke, another ne
gro, nnd sentenced to twelve month*
on the chalngang and to pay a 2200
fine at the expiration of that time or
nerve alx months more.
Death of an Infant.
The Infant non of Mr. and Mr*. R.
Willingham died yesterday after a
few day*' Illness. The Interment took
plade at Armuchle, the family burying
ground.
8*curos Patent.
John R. Morrison, a pressman, In the
employ of the Herald Publishing Co.,
has secured a patent on a perforating
device to be used on a Job press. The
new attachment le quite simple, but
very effective In satisfactorily doing
the work that has required the use of
more expensive machines.
May Hold Fair.
It Is quite probable that Floyd county
III have a fair next October, which
will eclipse anything of Its kind ever
held here. Manager C. M. Fuller of the
City Electric Rnllway Co., who has al
ways worked untiringly for these nn-
nual fairs, has begun a canvass of the
business men, and from the encourage
ment he has received there Is no doubt
but what a fair will be held In Octo
ber.

38-41 Whitehall street. The place Is
literally filled with suspenders, every

enough to make the eyes of an old
timer bulge, for not many of them
