The Thlrty- flfth Georgia regiment held Its reunion at this place yesterday, the guests of Ihe Conyers Chapel, U. D. C. There were present thlrty-flve survivor* of Ihe regiment and two or three hundred veterans of other organisations. The veteran* were taken In charge by W. P. McDaniel, master of ceremonies, who had them assemble at the court-house, where they were provided with badges and formed for march to the new rock warehouse, where the exercises were conducted. General C. A. Evan* delivered the address of the occasion and It was very much enjoyed by all present. After the general had flnlshed hla address a bountiful basket dinner and barbecue was partaken of. Auguata, Ga., Aug. 0.—The grand lodge of the Ancient Order United Workmen opened here yeaterday morn. Ing with about flfty delegates present, together with the grand lodge officers. After ihe opening ceremonies a short organising meeting was held, and then Ihe officers and delegates went to the Plats and enjoyed a delightful barbecue dinner, which had been prepared for them under the able supervision of on# of their members, Harry H. Morris, sheriff of the city of Augusts. This evening there will be n flower parade and at night tableaus, songs and other patriotic features, conclud ing with* a dance. Lake Charles, La., Aug 6.—Charlea Curtis has been lodged In the parish Jail, under medical treatment, to await the outcome of a desperate attempt at suicide. Curtis, at Oakdale, slashed his throat through the larynx, but aa death did not come quick enough he stabbed himself twice tn the right breast, each time reaching the lung, using a pocket knife, and will probably die.
