A two-horse milk wagon was struck
by a freight train at the corner of
Edgewood avenue and Whitehall street
and fresh sweet milk became butter
milk without a moment's Intermission.
A large sewer pipe that runs alongside
the railway track was flushed with the
milk, and milk was strewn up and
down the track until the surroundings
looked as if a snowstorm had struck
the place.
At first there was a rumor that tha
driver of the w’agon had been seriously
hurt, but when the ambulance appeared
on the scene a flgure covered with cin
ders and buttermilk Jumped up from
the ground where it had been lying and
fled in the direction of the woods. The
wagon was so badly broken up that the
name of Its owner could not be ascer
tained.
