The New York market for options opened

After the early ndrance. price changes
covered a small range with tendency to
ward a lower level, with the tone dull,
but level.
Price was apparently trying to Imost
prices, and for the first time In three
weeks he today Issued a bulletin of cron
reports, all of which ore unfavorable. It
was stated that every time the market
broke good, he dumped October.
New cotton Is showing up increasing
quantities and In different sections dally,
today's receipts Including 5,894 at Hous
ton. 8.424 at Galveston. 161 at New Or
leans and 310 at Augusta.

experience of a market In a time of
active speculation, the week’s opening on
the stock exchange found a large necu
mutation of outside buying orders and
equally heavy orders to sell from profes
sional speculators, who are looking for
this opportunity to realise profits. The
early trading accordingly displayed nn ex
treme Irregularity, In the course of which

The conditions have changed considerably
since Saturday morning. An area of high
measure of marked energy has moved down
}rmn the northwest and Is now centered
over Kansas. Its advance has caused much
cooler weather to the enat and southeast of
Its center. The center of lowest pressure

half of the country, while cloudiness covers

Chicago, Aug. 27.—There were quiet
closings on the board of trade, with
net changes for the day showing wheat
l-4(H'3-4c lower; corn l*8c higher to
unchanged; oats l*8€P3*8c lower; pro
visions unsteady.
Cash sales were 27,000 bushels wheat.
650,000 bushels corn and 110,000 bush
els oats In Chicago; 5 loads wheat, t
loads corn and 40,000 bushels oats at
the seaboard.
There was a lack of.trade In all the
pits. The bulls In all the pita attempt
ed to force prices upward by bidding
•or the grain without taking much or
It. William H. Lake's purchases of
wheat were liberal and James Rankin
was a moderate buyer, too. Business
In all the pits 'was quite scattered.
During the day the Armour concern
was a buyer or September wheat, ie-
lieving the pressure.
