sional speculators, who ore looking for
this opportunity to realise profits. The

favorite* of the speculation went sha-ply

on Saturday. The sharp adVanee of the
previous day caused nervousness among the
shorts, and although buying was limited
the undertone waa firm. Tne leading re-
fiuers were the principal supporters or the
near-by months, with offering* scarce.
Stocks continue small, and. although the
foreign demand Is disappointing, ‘atllT more
fair-sited buying orders were reported near
the cloae of tlik market. The market at the

Chicago, Aug. 27.—There were quiet
closing:* on the board of trade, with
net changes for the day showing wheat
l-4<?3-4c lower; corn I-8c higher to
unchanged; oats l*8®3>8o lower; pro
visions unsteady.
Cash sales were 27,000 bushels wheat,
550,000 bushels corn and 110,000 bush
els oats in Chicago; 5 loads wheat, 3
loads corn and 40,000 bushels oats at
the seaboard.
There was n lack of trade In all the
pits. The bulls In all the pits attempt,
ed to force prices upward by bidding
for the grain without taking much of
It. William H. Lake's purchases of
wheat were liberal nnd James Rankin
was a moderate buyer, too. Business
In all the pits was quite scattered.
During the day tho Armour* concern
was a buyer of September wheat, re
lieving tht pressure.
Primary receipts wheat 796,000 bush
els; corn 579,000 compared with 1,375,-
000. and 703,000 bushels, respectively, a
year ago.
Clearances for the day: Wheat 372,•
