California fruit Is selling rapidly at prices quoted and the receipts are not sufficient to hsrdly supply the demand. Oranges are light supply, with prices ruling high. The demand for bananas Is some heavier, sales being readily made at fair prices. Fruit Is arriving exceptionally fine for this season of the year. Price of lemons has gone skyward, having advanced 11.00 to 12.00 a box at points of Importation. The supply on the local market Is very light, with a stiff demand, and selling today nt 88.00 and 28.50 per box. There are a few scattering cars of watermelons coming In and are draw ing fairly good prices, considering the quality. The chicken situation has been ex tremely uncertain, receipts being very light, with a very strong demand, with prices considerably advanced. Dressed poultry Is In good demand at strong prices. Kggs continue firm, with no Indica tion of any perceptible change. Ducks and geese are ranging In val ues about as usual. Celery Is coming In more freely and the consumption Is much greater. Quo tation prices are being readily ob tained for all receipts. Vegetables arc being supplied by the local truck growers. Irish potatoes In good demand, with prices ruling Arm and receipts normal. Onions are some cheaper, the market showing weakness within the last few days. Cabbage are very plentiful, the mar ket having been glutted for the past ten days. Butter Is looking upward In price, and the Indications are for lighter re ceipts, with better prices within the next few days. The first car of fancy applet made Its appearance on the market this week. The stock shows up exceptionally line and the trade Is taking them fairly welt The Indications point to a very heavy fruit and produce business this season.
