NEGRO WOMAN ARRESTED
FOR RUNNING “TIGER.”

Oxford, Go., Sept. 15.—^Yesterday af
ternoon the authorities were notified
that a negro woman named Mary
Mitchell was suspected of running a
blind tiger at her house In Oxford.
Officer T. W. Skelton, of Covington;
Bailiff J. E. Hlackstock and J. EL Dor
sey, of Oxford, Immediately made
thorough search of the house and
premises, which resulted In the arrest
of the woman and two negro men, who

were caught coming from the houne
with whisky on their persons. A lari
number of empty bottles and bear kei
numoer or empty uccziom and bear kegs
were found In the house, but as yet the
hiding place of the liquor has not been
discovered. Two warrants, with bonds
of $100 each, were Issued against the
woman, which she tailed to secure.

days being somewhat over one million
feet per dny. In the crosstie market
prices continue to hold up, nnd local
exporters are having no trouble In sell
ing spot cargoes at profitable prices.

sens of Covington and Nowton county
are going to make-a mighty effort to
get the Agricultural School for this
district. A mass meeting of the cltl-
sens will be held In the court house on
next Tuesday night for the purpose of
raising sufficient funds to procure the
necessary land and other equipment.
Trying to Locate Murderer.

department Is still at work trying to
locate the perpetrators of tha double
murder which occurred In the outskirts
of this city early Bunday morning,
