MRS. BRYAN’S VISIT
SOCIAL EVENT OF DAY.
The day epent In Atlanta by Mr*
William Jennings Bryan has been
crowded with events of a aortal na
ture. At II o'clock Mr. Bryan received
a call at the Piedmont from the ladles
of the committee appointed by the
Democratic League to plan for her en
tertainment. This was followed by an
automobile drive through the city
and out Peachtree road.
At I o'clock a beautiful luncheon waa
served at the Piedmont Drlv|ng Club
to Mrs. Bryan and the ladles of the
committee, who are Mrs. iloke Smith,
chairman; Mrs. Burton Smith, Mr*.
I.oula Ohelstln, Mrs. James R. Gray,
Mrs. J. K. Orr, Mrs. Sam Jones. Mr*.
H. H. Cabanlss, Mrs. Barton Blount,
Mrs. Lowry Arnold, Mrs. J. M. High.
Mrs. Lewis Parley, of Montgomery,
Mrs. Hoke Smith's guest, was also
present.
Mrs. Bryan waa gowned In a smart
block and white suit, and the ladle*
wore coat suits appropriate for the
street.
The table tvs* artistic and beautiful
In Its appointments and decorations. Its
centerpiece was a pyramid of red rose*,
and lunch was served on the terrace.
At 4 o'clock the ladles went to the au
ditorium at Ponce DeLeon, where seats
of honor had been reserved for them.
Mrs. Brysn Is always one of the most
enthusiastic of her husband's audiences.

hear him speak.
Reception at Club.
The reception to be tendered Mr*.
Bryan at the Woman’s Club from 5:39
to 6:30 will be one of the moat bril
liant In the history of the club. Mr*.
Bryan will be Introduced by Mr*. Rob
ert Zahner, retiring president, and will
be assisted in receiving by Mr*. A.
McD. Wilson, president-elect, and by
Mrs. Joseph Terrell, Mrs. Hoke Smith,

The club rooms win be elaborately
decorated with palms, cut flowers and
tiny flags.
Dinner at Piedmont.
The Informal dinner at which Mra
Bryan will be entertained with the la
dles-of the committee will bring to a
cloa* the day'* program. After dinner
the ladles will hear the speeches made
at the banquet.
MRS. HINMAN’8 BRIDGE.
A pretty party of Thursday after-
noon w*. the bridge which Mr*. Thom
as Hlnman gave In honor of her guest,
Mrs. L. P. Noel, of Nashville.
The occasion was thoroughly Infor
mal and brought together eight or ten
congenial women. After tho game
delicious luncheon was nerved.
' Mr*. Hlnman wore a pretty lingerie
gown of white mull trimmed with lace.
Mra Noel was also gowned In white,
the material being of sheerest mull and
the trimming of lace medallions.
The first prise was a pair of silk hose
and the second some daintily embroid
ered handchlefs.
Mr*. Hlnman'* guests were Mrs.
Robert Davl* Mra W. P. Spalding,
Mrs. Joe Ralne, Mr*. R. B. Ridley, Jr.,

The dinner given at the Capital City
Club Wednesday evening by Dr. Stras-
burger, of New York, was one of the
pleasantest Informal affairs of the
week.
Dr. Strasburger entertained a few
frienda those present being Mrs.
Thomas. Hlnman, Mra. L. O. Noel, of
Naahvllle; Mrs. Rhein, Mrs. Jerntgan
and Mrs. Smith, of New York.
PLUNKET-HOLLINGSWORTH.
One of the prettiest church waddings
of the early fall was that of Mlaa
Bessie Hollingsworth and Mr. Oscar
Plunket, which occurred on Tuesday
evening nt Inman Park Presbyterian
church, Bev. J. B. Flcklen officiating.
The church was decorated with palms
and ferns, and the ceremony was wit
nesaed by relatives and frienda of the
young couple.
Mrs. J. C. Williamson, of Chatta
nooga, Tenn., sang "O Promise Me”
Just before the ceremony. Miss Velma

Miss Annie Osborn was maid of hon
or and Mr. Candler Butler acted as
best man. The ushers wars Messrs. E.
Q. Hollingsworth and Halan Daniel.
The bride entered the church with
her father, who gave her away. Her
wedding gown was of white chiffon,
and her veil was fastened with orange
blossoms. The maid of honor wore a
white lingerie gown with girdle of shell
pink.
The marriage ceremony was followed
by a reception at the home of the
bride's parents. The house was beau
tifully decorated with palms, fsrna and
rut flowers, and In the dining room the
color scheme was white and green.
The bride Is a popular young woman,
ho has a host of friends In the city,
and Mr. Plunket Is a prominent young
business man, who holds a responsible
position with the Hancock Brokerage
Company.
After September 23 Mr. nnd Mrs.
Plunket will be at home at 63 Kirkwood
avenue.

married at the residence of the bride's
mother, Mra. N. C. Leek, on Broad
street, Inst night at 9 o'clock. In the

Rev. J. S. Dickinson, pastor of the
First Baptist church, officiating. The
couple left Immediately for Birming
ham. their future home. The bride Is
young lady greatly admired for her

A very happy event waa the recep
tion held Wednesday' evening at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. E. D. L Mobley
In Weat End.
Captain and Mrs. McIntyre, of Texas,
were guests of honor, and the story of
this annual reception In their honor Is
quite a pretty one.
Captain McIntyre was one of the
bravest of our. civil war soldiers, and
was lieutenant of Company A of the
Ninth Georgia battalion. After the war
he removed to Texas, but he has never

McCorley, Mary Woodruff, Mrs. T. E.
Bunn and Mrs. Tom McCorley assisted

The marriage of Miss Adallne Lewis
and Mr. Howard H. Shull* took place
Thursday evening In St Philips church
In the presence of a large number of
Interested friend*.
Altar decorations conalated of palma
and ferns, and the ceremony was per
formed by Bev. Mr. Pise, of the cathe
dral. The bride entered with Colonel
C. D. Maddox, and very fair to look
upon was she In her traveling gown of
cloth tailor suit with hat to. match.
Immediately after the ceremony the
young couple left for Savannah, from
which point they will take a steamer to
the East. When they return to the
city they will spend two weeks with
Colonel Maddox, then going to Little
Rock, where they will reside in the fu
ture.
The bride la very popular here, and
has resided for a long while with Col
onel and Mrs. Maddox. Mr. Shultx Is a
prominent traveling man. Messrs. Hu
bert and John Lewis, of Hearne, Texas,
brothers of the bride, attended the wed
ding.

At the residence of the bride's father,
Mr. H. C. Bagley, Piedmont avenue,
Mias Sallle May Bagley was married to
Dr. Marlon Benson Wednesday even
ing at 7:10 o'clock, the ceremony be
ing performed by Dr. W. W. Landrum,
assisted by Dr. John R. White.
On account of the recent death of
the bride's mother, the marriage was
very quiet, only a few Intimate friends
being present. Simple elegance mark
ed the event. The only attendants were
the bride’s sister. Miss Helen Bagley,
and the groom's brother. Dr. Charles
Benson.
Henry Walker Bagley, Msjorle Cutts,
of Savannah; Lonnie Benson, of Jack
sonville, and Ruth Benson, four hand
some children, stretched nn aisle of
ribbons down the stairs through tho
reception hall to th« drawing room,
where the groom and his best man
awaited. The bride Is one of Atlanta's
prettiest blondes, and a young woman
of most chnrmlng personality.
The drawing room was decorated
with ferns and palms, presenting a most
pleasing setting for tho wedding party.
Flowers nnd ferns were profusely used
In the reception hall and dining room,
where a buffet supper was served after
the ceremony.
