But the query suggests Itaelf to many: If the gin ning could !*• so large, In spite of the re- cent laid weather, may It not be uocfasnry to raise tho estimates of tbe crop to 12,- 500,000 bales minimum? The answer wns •f'tort, too, were bearish. Including dig. iPlHiIntlng cables, heavy selling on both (Idea of the water by leading bulla nud seemingly also by spot interests, large re ceipts nnd a. statement by the Nutlonal Glnnera' Association that the ginning up to October 19 was 4,700,000 bales. Bulls pooh- pooh the report aa something that means really, nothing, since; It Is Impossible, to determine just what percentage of the crop has been ginned. Crop estimates on the basis of the report ranged generally from 12,000,*000' to 12,000.100, with some extreme figures at both ends. It will take a good deal of overselling or'some really bad news to advance prices materially.'’ New Orleans, Oct. 26.—The Times Dem ocrat: “The thousand and one complex ramifications of tho speculative cotton market and the fact that actual cotton holders were leas firm lu their demands rather than the discovery of any really vital showing lu the glnners report scut value* down for a net loss of some 40 points.
