kins, of-Athens, delivered a lecture of
great research and eloquence, taking as
his theme ’’Vlotor Hugo." The club

son, and the regular meetings have
been of much Interest and proflt to

constituting Its membership.

oree of a large and pretty compliment
from the local Daughters Tuesday af
ternoon. At the Unlverelty Club, from
2 to .5 o'clock, they gave her a recep
tion,* on the eve of her departure for
California to spend the winter, the oc
casion being an opportunity for her
friends to say goodby to her.
Nearly all of the local Daughters at
tended; thep# were some from other
places, and quite a party of friends of
Mrs. Goodlett came to offer her their
good wishes.
The venerable lady, being now too
feeble to undergo the ratlgue of stand
ing through the hours, was seated In
a chair that had a background of Con
federate flags. 8he was dressed In soft
black silk with point lace on the yoke,
and greatly appreciated and enjoyed
the occasion. „ _

Blankenship, president of Bate, whose
gown was of blue silk, with white
touches; Mrs. Bobert Vaughan, presi
