The “hard lurk crowd" went loug yester
day.
The chart player* said that the market
was due for a reaction.
The atory was handed around that Frlee
was n buyer.
/'Another'week of record-breaking move
ment, and the fears of the aplnners of
the world will be allayed," said on# prom
inent broker.
A desperate effort Is being made to keep
January from bitting 10c.
There la an underlying feeling of nervous
ness in the market, and (t Is Just the mar
ket that the outsider should he afraid of.
Wall Street baa gone long for n turn.
It was widely advertised yesterday that
Mias Giles was to be out with some sort of
a bullish guess, or estimate, nr expression
today.
Miss Giles has already given out her esti
mate of the erop. She hna never rtilned In
terest In her figures by getting out tv half
doien crop estimates, as some other peo
ple do.
Just after the dote there was a very bull
ish, feeling on the curb. For a time 22 was
naked for January; later it was offered
at 18.
There la uever o word said about en
forcing the rale against curb trading nowa
days. It Is a foolish rule as it now rends,
at best.
The startliug statement by the senator
from Texas la: "And the men who never
raised a bale of cotton buy cotton by tho
hundred thousand hale*." Just where the
market would be If only men who raise
cotton bought cotton Is something that Hen-
ator Bailey ahould explain, and the sena
tor Is probably able to explain anytlitug
about cotton speculation.

week-end flgurea, has but intensified the
prevailing sentimeut, nnd the market’s only
support at the moment is the fear of over

Undoubtedly ns a result of so numerous
bearish influences there hits resulted a con

stable and quick to seek cover on any un
favorable circumstances, would readily#

THE COFFEE MARKET.
New Y'ork. Nov. 2‘.—The market
opened steady at unchanged prices to
a decline of 5 points under a little sell
ing againat firm offerings from Hrazll,
which, however, was promptly ab
sorbed with the market doing a little
better during the middle of the morn
ing. when actual sales were unchanged
to 5 points higher. It Is expected that
the world’s visible supply statement as
of November t will make a bearish
showing, with an increase of over a
million bags, but the bulls point out
that possibly as much as 750,009 bags
of the coffee brought into sJgitL Is In
the hands J of the government’s agents
and will not be sold until the second
half of next season.-—Glbert & Clay.

influenced by election sentiment. The
developments overnight, followed by
widening of the betting odds to ,5 to i.

at the same time it made holders nt
