wheat, based an the amnxlng strength of
the ^Minneapolis market, both for cash

improved. Primary receipts way under last

May corn Is being bought for Investment
on all soft spots. Heavy movement may
cause decline In cash and nearby deliv

temporarily, though to no appreciable ex
tent.
The milling demand for wheat is excel
lent, and all signa point higher.*
Corn Is a purchase on every slight set
back.
.Chicago, Nov. 20.—Htlll friendly to wheat
nnd coru. Believe wheat will show 'more
strength for tbe present than corn.
There seems to !>c gdud demand for oats
and receipt! likely to be light, beenuse
movement will favor corn.
The movement of corn will probably de-

DAILY COTTON LETTER.
New York, Nov. 20.—The New York
market opened 2 to 10 off thla morning
In response to weaker cables than ex
pected. After the opening there was a
disposition on the part of shorts to
cover which steadied prices for a while,
but an estimate from Mr. Price on (he
f inning to November 14 showed 8,312,-
00 bales ginned, against 7,400,000 iuit
KAar, arid caused prices to break rap
idly to 10.12 for January. The bears
ket ought to rto iwtter. bog re- ‘hat thla Indicate* a bearlah
celnte at weatern colau 36,000 leaa tlutu government v<Wt for tomorrow. In
view of Mr. Price’s former ffuessea, and
forecaate a yield of 12,600,000 to 13.-
000.000 hales. These flKures were used
as a lever to hammer prices apparently
for thq purpose of setting rid of eome
of the large long following. It Is gen
erally expected that the report tomor
row will show about 8,750,000 bales
ginned, and should It prove less than
this no doubt the bulls would take
full advantage of the difference. It
seems to us cotton should be bought on
the dtp*.

INTERIOR RECEIPTS.
Now Tori© Nov. 20.—The Sun MY*:
"The weather new* capped the climax
for a bear. He had «ot used to strong
spot price*, big buying by mill* and
exportera at th* South and heavy cov
ering of hedgea here. He had grown
accuatomed to - light receipt*, report*
of holding back, car ahortage and a
scarcity of what a apinner mint have
hla trade demand* and that la fine
grade* of raw cotton. HI* fear* of
bad weather had been dtapelled when
the low barometer In Texaa last Fri
day aeemlngly failed to produce reault*.
What he did not expect was what he
actually got, and that wa* cold weath
er, heavy ralna, amounting In - some
section* of Alabama, It seem*, to 6
veritable cloudburst, and to crown all,
■now or sleet and appearance of same
In Texas and Arkansas, and also cold
ratns In the eastern gulf and Atlantic
states. The bull, too, could still boaat
of holding all the old cards, not forget
ting the predicted revision of spot dif
ferences tomorrow and of a bullish
glnners' report on the same day,
wonder that some of the big shorts be
came disgusted and covered. One Is
said to have bought 30,000 to 40,000
bales. Latham, Alexander & Co. esti
mated the crop at 13,160,000 bale**
which also caused covering, as It Is no
larger than the world's consumption'as
estimated even by Mr. Ellison. The
world's consumption, however. Is more
likely to be 12,600,000 bales. Lmtham,
Alexander & Co. said: ‘We beg to sub
mit for your Information our annual
estimate of the cotton crop for thla
year. The result Is the average of
more than 5,000 estimates addressed tn
us by reliable bankers, merchants,
planters and cotton buyers, residents
of the different cotton-growing coun
ties In the South, and we regard it as
correct as It Is possible to obtain It.' ~
