Owing to many urgent request* from
those who cannot attend the art exhi
bition during the day. It ha* been de
cided to open It during the evening* of
next week. This will enable business
men and other* who are occupied dur
ing the day to see the beautiful pic
tures now on exhibition at 381-2
Whitehall street.
Thursday evening will he patronised
largely by the young people of Atlanta,
and will be one of the evenla of the
week among the younger set. Many
congenial parties will be organised, and
there will lie some very attractive fea
tures in Hie way of a bright musical
program, and clever Impersonations In
dialed, with time, however, for the
enjoyment of the pictures.
•Next week many students from Bre-
nnu College will come down from
Gnlnravllle to the exhibition. They will
be accompanied by the Instructor of
art there nnd by several members af
the faculty. It l» hoped that those
residing 111 Atlanta who are alumnae of
. Hrenull will try to attend the exhibition
on the same day In which the students
of the college come from Gainesville.

A pretty event was the luncheon at
which Mrs.. v. Rainwater entertained
at the, Aragon. Saturday In honor of
Miss Martha Edmondson, of Anniston,
the guest of Miss Martha Wagner. The
occasion was Informal, about twelve of
the young metals of the .hostess being
present.

anthemums. and the place cards were
decorated with the nomograms of the

One of the most delightful affairs ot
the week was the afternoon party given
by Miss Sara E Brady, complimentary
to Miss Mae Elliott, whose wedding to
Mr. D. W. Plowden occurs next Wed
nesday evening. «
A guessing contest caused much
merriment, the first prize, a dainty pin
cushion, being awarded to MIsh Kath-
ryne Klmbro, and the booby, a pulr of
little bootH for ”de-feat,” fell to Miss
Susie Price. During the game mints
were passed by little MIsh Kathleen
Keeney und Master.Allen Vickery.
In the dining room, where Ices, cakes
ami fruits were served, .the color
scheme of pink and white was artisti
cally carried out. From the chandelier
was a shower of tiny wedding hells
over the table, and from the center of
this were pink ribbons running to the
four corners ant) tie<) In big b<n\*. The
silver candelabra held pink shaded ta
pers# In the center of the table was an
immense wedding cake, prettily dec
orated. Miss Elliott was asked to cut
this cake, which proved to be well
filled with a number of dainty articles
for her.

ANNUAL CONFERENCE
OF THE DAUGHTERS OF
AMERICAN REVOLUTION.
Friday afternoon, nt Columbus, Ga.,
the eighth annual conference of the
Daughters of the American Revolution
came to a close, after a three day*'
session of unusual interest.
In executive session a resolution pre
sented by Mr*. K. A. Ros*. of Macon,
Indorsing compulsory education, was
unanimously' adopted. The Georgia
legislature I* to be urged by the Daugh
ter* of the Amorlcan Revolution to pa*»
the compulsory education bill at II*
next sitting.
Much interest In the approaching
Jamestown Exposition \va* manifest
ed, and It was decided that the
Daughter* of the American Revolution
of Georgia should make an exhibit nt
Jamestown, the various state chapters
to loan relics and objects of patriotic
and historic value. Quite a number
of rare relies were offered by dele
gates present.
A resolution was offered by Miss
Benning, requesting that a facsimile
of the ship Ann, which brought the
first settlers to Georgia, shall be In
cluded In the exhibit. Mrs. R. K. Park,
of Atlanta, amended the resolution to
the effect that a model of the ship
shall be made If It Is found Impossible
to reproduce the historic vessel In all
Its details.
Mrs. Miller R. Hutchins, of Atlanta,
will receive subscriptions for the offi
cial magazine of the organisation.
The next annual conference will meet
at Rome, the delegates to be the guests
ot the Zuner chapter, In that city.

Miss Irene Kirkpatrick for a bevy of
visiting girls Friday' afternoon. Also In

Blanche Carson and Martha Whitman,
of Atlanta, who have been among the
moat admired visitors of the season at
Nashville. Their hostess, Miss Rlise
Lipscomb, entertained forty guests at
a bridge dinner for them at the Her
mitage Club Tuesday night. Monday
afternoon Mr. Val Taylor tendered
them a luncheon ut the Golf and Coun
try Club, followed by an auto ride to
Belle Meade; and that night Mr. Ki
ll ridge Rent ley gave them a box party.
