GIVE A LARGE RECEPTION.
A week which has been crowded
with elaborate and beautiful social
events was brought to a close Satur
day by the afternoon reception
which Mrs. E. G. Thomas and Mrs.
Kdwln P. Morltx entertained several
hundred of their friends. The occa
sion was characterised by elegance and
beauty, the decorations and all the
details being most artistic. Palms,
ferns and smllax were used in profu
sion. and the color scheme was pink.
In the hallways, parlors and reception
room these flowers were placed In every
available spot, and In the dining room
the table had for Its centerpiece a sil
ver vase fllled with La France roses.

PLOWDEN-ELLIOTT.
One of the most interesting wed
dings of the season took place Wed
nesday at 7:30 o'clock, when Miss Mae
Allen Elliott and Mr. David Wallace
Plowden, of Valdosta, were married at
the bride's home on North Jackson
street.
The ring ceremony was used and was
performed by Rev. T. M. Elliott, of
LaGrange, n brother of the bride.
The house was profusely decorated In
white chrysanthemums and ferns, and
in the parlor, where the ceremony took
place, palms and ferns were banked
so ns to form an Improvised altar. In
the music room, where punch was
served, the same decorations of green
nnd white were effectively employed.
Punch was served by Miss Francos
Walker and Miss Iris Dobbs, of Wood
stock. \

very happy occasion was the
luncheon given by Miss Elolse Ivey
Thursday afternoon at the home of her
mother, In Inman Park. The house
was decorated with palms and ferns In
beautiful Jardlniers, and red roses In
tall vases. The decorative scheme of
the house was In red, white and green.
>Ils* Ivey was a charming hostess
and her friends enjoyed a thoroughly
delightful afternoon. Each guest was
presented a card tied with tiny red
ribbon nnd pencil and upon the card
was written “The Hidden Capitals."
When each card win handed In It was
found that MIssAllle Candler w as win
ner of the first prize, a beautiful box of
candy, and the booby fell to Mr. George
Bell, a China doll In a tub.

violin, nccompanled on the piano by
Miss Rosalie Elliott.
The bride, who is a pretty blonde,
ore a becoming suit of blue broad
cloth with hat and gloves to match. She
carried a bouquet of brides roses tied
Ith a bow of white tulle. The brides
maids wore dainty frocks of white
chiffon cloth elaborately trimmed In
lace with pink satin girdles, pink
gloves and pink slippers. They carried
bouquets of pink roses, tied with pink
tulle. The mutron of honor wore n
white toilette and carried u bouquet
of golden gate roses tied with green
tulle.
The guests were then invited Into the
dinning room, where a delicious salad
luncheon was served from a table
beautiful In Its decorations of red,
white and green. The same color
scheme was carried out in the ices.

The brilliant reception given nt the
Georgia Military.Academy, at College
Park, Wednesday evening in honor of
Colonel and Mrs. F. G. Hodgson, U. 8.
A.; Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Crussette and
Dr. and Mrs. K. G. Matheson was a
delightful event, assembling several
hundred guests.
The receiving party, consisting of
Colonel and Mrs. J. C. Woodward, tho
guests of honor, nnd members of the
faculty, stood in the handsome parlors
of tlie "Retreat," the home of the pres
ident of the academy.
Later in the evening the scene of
festivities changed to Rugby hall,
where elegant refreshments were
served, and where the only formal cer
emony of the evening, the conferring
of commissions and sabers to tho ca
det officers, occurred. The ceremony
was Impressive and the cadets, stand
ing at attention before the assembled
guests, made quite an Imposing sight.
Dr. Matheson, in a few words, ad
dressed the cadets, after which the
commissions were delivered by Colonel
Woodward and Colonel West.
The decorations In the parlor of
Rugby* were chiefly In green, but the
halls and assembly room were profuse
ly adorned with American flags and
with the school colors, red and white.
Mrs. Woodward wore black lace over
white silk. Mrs. Hodgson's gown was
of blue velvet nnd chiffon, and Mrs.
Crussette wore a dress of soft white
wool.
THANKSGIVING DAY AT
OLD WOMEN’S HOME.
Thanksgiving day was duly and ap
propriately observed at the Homo for
Old Women. Many of the good people
of our city remembered the old ladles
and gifts poured In until pantries we.re
crowded.
Tho table was very Inviting with Its
white linen and beautiful flowers,
thoughtfully sent by some lover of
beauty, and round it gathered the fif
teen old ladles of the home, who thor
oughly enjoyed the good things set be-
foro them. The menu was as follows:
Roast turkey,- cranberry sauce, cel
ery, potato salad, candied sw*cet pota
toes, stewed com. whipped cream with
marnschlne cherries, ungel cake, fruit,
nuts, coffee.
Muny friends called during the after
noon and were entertained by the old
ladles.

ROBERTS-POPE.
The marriage of Mr. William W.
Roberts and Miss •Alma Pope took
place Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock
at the home of Mrs. Laura J. Pope,
on West Peachtree street. The cere
mony was performed by Rev. M. L.
Troutman in the presence of the Im
mediate family und n few Intimate
friends. The drawing room, where the
ceremony was performed, was deco
rated with palms nnd ferns and nar
cissus.
Miss Bessie Pope and Mr. Charles
M. Roberts were the only attendants.'
The bride wore n traveling suit of
brown cloth. The stylish coat, which
w*as trimmed with velvet and a touch
of green silk, was worn over a lace
w*alst. With this suit she wore a toque
of brown, trimmed with yellow roses.
Her bouquet w*as of w*hlte roses, tied
with green tulle.
Miss Bessie Pope wore a suit of
w*htte cloth and carried a bouquet of
white chrysanthemum*.
Mrs. Pope, the bride's mother, wore a
toilet of black lace over taffeta.
After the ceremony a buffet luncheon
was served. The dining room was In
white and yellow, the centerpiece on
the table, which was covered with Clu
ny lace, being a vase fllled with yellow
and white chrysanthemums.
Miss Susie May Pope and Miss
Rush!* Ray served coffee. Mrs. M. R.
C. Smith and Mrs. E. M. Pierce assist
ed their mother In the entertainment of
the guests.

Mr. Roberts and his bride left for
Florida and Cuba and on their return
they will be at the Aragon. After the
first of the year they will make their
home in Columbia, 8. C.
