The national child labor committee,
which has for its object the enactment
of tyws throughout the country to pro
tect the children froth parents and mill
owners, will meet this week In Clncln-
jiatl, Ohio, and when It meets one or
more Atlanta men will be there to Join
in the deliberations.
The Georgia members on this com
mittee are: Ityn. Clark Howell, Govern
or-elect Hoke Sfnith and Rev. Dr. c
Wilmer. rector of the St. Lukes Episco
pal church.' Dr. Wilmer will leave At
lanta in a few days for Cincinnati, and
It Is possible that the other Georgia
members of the committee may attend.
Dr. Wilmer i6 greatly Interested In
the child labor movement that Is
spreading all over the country, and
when the committee meets he will be
able to enlighten the members from
other states as to the conditions exist
ing today fn Georgia and point out the
necessity for legislation.

Gadsden, Ala., Dec. 10.—Will Henley,
a young man. was shot and dangerous,

Darnall.
It Is alleged that both men were
drinking, and had a previous quarrel,
which was renewed. Darnall claims
that Henley was advancing on. him

It Is presumed that other councilman
and aldermen received a similar no
tice. The communication Is signed,
"One of the Boys.” and In written on a
postal card in an almost Illegible hand,
k which. It can plainly be seen, Is dis-
guise if.
The mayor and Alderman Key treat
the nmtter purely as a Joke, saying
that, at most, it Is nothing but un Idle
threat of some one who doesn't want
saloons on Decatur and Ivy streets, and
who thus hopes to have them closet!.

Zella Williams, a negro girl 16 years
of age. Introduced at the police station
Sunday night an entirely new and
unique method of concealing crime.
The girl was arrested by Policeman
McGill on the charge of stealing
money. She denied her guilt, however,
and no trace of the mlsnlng mom
could be found.

nistron. The girl has an abundance of
hair, which was pompadour In front

matron suddenly ran her fingers
through the hair. The prisoner resist
ed, but it was no use. Miss Samldrson

From the glti’s hair the matron
pulled a $5 bill, a $1 bill, five silver
quarters anti a nickel. The girl then
admitted she had l>een outwitted. She'
will be tried In police court.

The meeting of the board of police
commissioners, scheduled lor Tuesday

day night. This was done because

nounced they would be unable to be

The controversy between Miss San
derson, police matron, and Probation
Officer Gloer will probably be Investi
gated Thursday night. Officer Gloer
has mad4 his report of the affair, as
directed by Chief Jennings, but Miss
Sanderson has so far failed to do this.
