Tuesday afternoon Mrs. E. A. Heard
entertained a dosen friends to honor

In Christmas colors. Crimson tapers
and crimson roses radiated a great

The toil score gave an elegant cut glass
vase to Mrs. Powell, while Mrs. A. R
Sullivan won the consolation prise,
and with her native grace, divided
the great bunch of red carnations Into
two parts and presented them to each
of the two honor-guests, Mrs. Dixon
anil Mrs. Johnstone. Mrs. Hesrd's
guests were Mesdames Powell, John
stone, Dixon. Orace Bayard, Cheney,
McWilliams, C. 8. Sparks, Fred Aver-
ett, Alfred Freeman, B. T. Haynes. Sul
livan. Misses Mary West and Pattle
Galllard.
The guests of Glendale were on Wed
nesday afternoon the guests of honor
for a charming , euchre party tendered
by Mrs. C. S. Sparks. It was a gath
ering tot sake of auld lang syne and
the different coteries of friends of the
three sisters mads up a most congenial
company. The top score on pretty tal
ly cards accorded a beautiful cup and
saucer of costly ware to Mrs. Dixon,
one of the honorees. In the cut for
the visitor's trophy Mrs. James John
stone won an elegant volume of "Tales
of a Wayside Inn.” Mrs. Sparks then
presented the other honor-guest. Mrs.
Powell, with a booklet beautifully Il
lustrating Hood's poem, "I Remember,
I Remember.” The delightful home, so
attractive In every appointment, was
redolent with the exotic fragrance of
narcissus and the usual adornment, of
palms and ferns. Elegant refreshments
were served.
Mrs. Edward Hume entertained the
Bridge Whist Club In a very happy
manner Wednesday momlng. A aeries
of Interesting games of bridge were
thoroughly enjoyed around three ta
bles arranged In the pallor pleasing
with decorations that suggested the
yuletlde. The score cards had a sprig
of holly and Inscribed below In red
lettering. “A Merry Christmas.” An
appetising luncheon temptingly con
cluded the morning’s pleasure. Mrs.

regular winter visitors and are again

Mr. Albert Lewis, millionaire and
good roads advocate, accompanied by
his family,, arrived last evening from
Bear Creek, Pa. They are again pleas
antly located at their winter home, on
Valencia street. Mr. Lewis has a mul
titude of Interests In lumber, railroads
and mines. He maintains a public rood
here, seven miles in length, and encour
age* road building here and at his
Pennsylvania home.
Mr. George F. Miles, managing di
rector of the Florida Coast Line Canal
and Transportation Company, accom
panied by Mrs. Miles, returned from
Pomfrat, Conn., yesterday to winter
here.
