It embraces about 27.000 square miles, interposed be tween New Mexico on the North, and the Mexican provinces of S.inora and Chihua hua on the south, and extending westward te the Colorado liver. A gentleman who has repeatedly traversed largo portions of it, says it abounds in gold, silver, and cop- per—has many spots of fertile soil, is ad mirably stapled for the propagation of all kinds of frett, especially the grape, aud p-sscsses an atmosphere which “it is a physical delight to breathe.” Colorado City, opposite Vums, i9 at the injunction of the G.la and Colorado, and at the pres* ent head of uarigation on the latter river. Thompson wits riding in his division through Harrison street, bis attention was directed to the residence of Patrick Price, by d.stressing groans and the smell of burning cloth; he soon effected an entrance and found Mrs. Price lying on the ground, her clothing consuming, and the flames commur.icattug to combustible materials in the room- He immediately gave alarm, and received assistance from a toot policeman and some neighbors. The dames were soon extinguished and every attention directed to alleviate the sufferings ot Mr*. P, but to no avail; she expired about 9 o’clock, Saturday morning.
