ATLANTA, DECEMBERTT1857* Homeopathic Dispensaries in tho city—the Central, Northern and Rond etrcct, and County Societies aro in operation in Sara toga, Kings, Washington, Oneida and New York Counties. The Homiop&tio Modical College of Pennsylvania was incorporated April 8, 1848, and the Western Hom-Ej n- thic College et Cleveland subsequently. There is considerable feeling in litis city respecting the removal, by the President, of those Democratic office holders who opposed the re election of Mayor Wood. John Mo Kcod, U. S. District Attornoy, is said to be tbs first who will fall. Mr. Knttirworth tho Superintendent of tho Assay Office, it to said, will follow It will not do lo carry this thing too far. Tho Government bar nothing to do with oor Muncipal struggles, and it will be an evil day for the Democratic party when it attempts to gu to Washing', n to avengo tho wrongs done in the city r,' New York. Corn Wtaia W, which will be «olJ very cheap. Geortria.' tie. , f Kul- Cair.pl From the Charlatan Courier. NewYook, Dec. 10. It Is wonderful how easy editors aro "sold,’ and how many tricks arc played upon the newspapers. Just now these‘•amusements’' most generally oonsist in making the journ als announce marriages which never occur. The number of ludicioua errora and mistakes whioh bavo recently been made in this res pect, is startling. Often limes threats of libel suits, and sometime* libel suits indeed' grow out ol them. In Belf-defence the pro prietors of somo of the papers have decided not to insert marriage notices hereafter without the written endorsement of the cler gyman performing tho ceremony. In that case, to obtain the pubbeation of a spurious marriage notice, tho crime of forgery will have to be committed. Now that the. solemnity of tbo removal of Gen. Worth’s remains is over' wo are baring the fua which that performance de- veloped. Tho expenses of a messenger in going to Pennsylvania for Gen. Worth's horse were 833, nod for tbo loan of said illus trious anim&l 85. This llotinanlt was not the genuine Worth horse, for that noble ani mat coaid not be pfoonred, bat one said to be very.mnch liko him waa put in tho pro- oession. This would have been a good joke in any other affair than a funeral. Ono of tbo Aldermen was highly indignant at the deception ; he had never known but llosi- nante was the genuine ■ host. ” Tho horae used on this occasion he denounced as not fit to go bofore an old clam oart, and in other disrespectful terms. The celebration of the event cost the oily 84,779,42. Some of the Items in this charge are rather rich. As no public so lemnity or jollification can take place iu New York without "refreshments " this af- fair'.waj no exception. The ceiebrntios of tho oooaaion, cat, drank aad made merry, at tbo St Niabolos Uotel, the charge for which was 8322, 42. The joke about this item of the bill Is, that the city refusae to pay it, and so the hotel ‘comes down' on Gov. King, Gen. Sanford, etc, who ordered and coDsn* mod that amount. Rat the most absuid tern in tho bill was a charge of 814 for an overcoat lost by some ono officiating oa the oocatioD, in the City Hall. The Metropolis has stood, aad can stand 'plucking,’ about as well as any other corporation in tbo world, bat I have myMoubta about the pro- eent 'gouge' being successful. Among the novelties of the soas-on there is to be a eattle show in tbit oity, in what is usually the depth of the winter—tho 15th iost. It la given under the auspices of the A. meriean Institute, and it is to be held at the Orystial Palaea. The exhibition will in- etude a display of stall and grass fed oattlo, oalves, sheep, swine, pork and dressed poul try of all kinds.* The question of its success Is one of very considerable doabt. The pressure of the times continues to tell Us sad tales. Witness the following dole ful sdvariiiement, cat from one of the dtily papers | Literary Curioitiy.—For sale, tho 'Life of Piatarcb,’ in three volumes, printed in 15- 52, in perfect preservation. Hard times compel a sale. Msy be soco at 34 Vina-st., io the basement;’ So yon see tbo fellow must have got pret «y low. Doctors of the llomoopathio school have been holding a mooting io this oity. The principal baiinees of the convention was the consideration of the advisability of petition ing the next Legislature to pass a law au thorising this Society to grant licenses to pnetionen, or the degree of M. D.—the So ciety having already been recognised by the Legislature of April last, in common with the New York County Medical Society. The number of Hogreopntbio physicians In the United States is eboot 3000. There ere two Ilomeopatblo Colleges, one at Phil* tdelphlaand the other at Oluvsland, Ohio, af each of whiob, upon an aveibge, 125 stn- dents graduate annually. Homoeopathy was introduced into the U.
