Connolly failed from the Havannah on the 29th of May ; the next day he was captured by (ho Aoi k and another Britifh Ligate, part of a fleet of 10 fail which were cruifingofF the Ha vannah, which, after taking out all the crew of the Lucy, except cant. Connolly, his fecond mate and carpenter, a fmall boy who was Tick, and one pdfenger, put a lieutenant of the York frigate, as prize-maflcr, and twelve fea men cn hoard, and oideredhcr for Jamaica; but on Fiiday night lalL when corning through the Gulpb, capt. Connolly, affiflcd by his fecond male and carpen ter, made an attempt to take pofftflion of his fhip,-by knock ing down thole who were on deck, and feruring the others below, and lucceeded; when capt. Connolly made the at tempt, there were ten of the feamen on deck. The lieute nant ol the fligate and capt. On the 14th infl. was boarded off St. Augufline by the Britifh Hoop of war Swallow, who informed him that the Maidflone Ligate, of 36 guns, had fallen in with a United States armed brig, off the Havannah ; the captain of the Ligate fern an odiccr an board the brig to take out forne of her men, when the captain of the brig not being able to defend him (elf, (and agreeable to his orders) gave up bis vcffel; the captain of the frigate took charge of her, and lent her for Jamaica. Capt. Arnold left Jamaica, in company with 15 fail of Ame rican veflels, under convoy of the Grand Turke of Bofton, capt. Taber. Off the Com mayndes, capt. Taber was board ed by an Englifh floop of war, who took nine of his men, the greater part of the remainder being hek rendered his guns ufelcfs. Off Cape Antonio, the fleet was parted by a gale of wind. Only, one vcfLi being in company with the convoy, fbe was taken off the Havannah by two french privateers; a fchooner in company got clear while they were taking poffelhon of her, June 2 1.
