[Without the fpiril of prophecy.) A very numcious body of men will be veiy much chagrined in (be courfe of a few days— for the following reafons: t. Because Thomas M'Kean, after above thirty years of pub lic and faithful fervice, is a living evidence that republicans are not fo ungrateful as they arc aliened to be by their enemies. 2. Because in the rejed on of Tames Ro r *, the people of Penn fylvania have declared their dif approbation of his public con duft. 3. Becaufe the whigs will win more wearing apparel, boots, and beaver hats than would clothe a couple of thouLnd of people. 4. Becaufe large Turns of mo ney will be won by the whigs Irom the lories. A great number of trimmers in politics who voted for Mr, Rofs, poGtively declare that they voted for Mr. M'Kean. The twenty three publicans who were deprived of their li cences for being republicans in a neighbouring county will have their licenfes redored. There will be great animofity and gnafhing of teeth in public I and private places— and many long faces. In other places there will be feftivity and congratulation— on the tiiumphof republican prin- I ciples. And it is very poflible there mav be foma good (inging and ; toa lbng on the occafion.
