Local Sallie Team Reaped a Good
Afternoon’s * Practice With the Aid
of the Augusta Richmond Academy
Manager Brouthers’ Band Showed Up Better Yesterday
Than Heretofore, and the Team Work Was Another
Feature of Improvement.
The local Sallie League team and the
Richmond Academy looked horns yester
day In a nine-inning game at the ball
park, the former winning by the score
of ten so nothing. Some fine form was
shown in this game by the Academy
boys as well as the Augusta ball club.
Tbs main reason that the amateurs did
not score was that they could not get on
to the bends and glides of the “profes
sionals."
While the Academy failed to h t with
the consistency which marked their ef
forts In the recent game with Clemson
they certainly put up some fight which
caused a great deal of comment. Tile
Academy's playing was so noticeable
that many a fan classed them us one of
the best rrep. teams that ever roamed
In this section In this decade
Clark of the Augusta team is what is
rightly termed a wonder, at least Judg

lie arrived in Augusta yesterday about
3:3(1 o'Cook, therefore having but an
hour in which to get the kinks out of
himself, before the game scheduled for
the afternoon was called.
Taking ft all-in-all. the Augusta team
reaped a good afternoon's practice out
of the Academy, amt Manager Hrouth
ers gives the cadets credit for playing a
very good game.
“Babe's" team showed up better yes

feature shows that the work Is pro

One of the most noticeable points in
yesterday's game waa that the majority
of the players, on the local Sable team,
are lefthand hitters, and as over half
of the twirlers In the Sallie League are
righthanders, the Augusta bids will
have the better chance of being the
champion hitters In the league.
