Bobbed Hair Is Said To Be Doomed
Beauty Crown Goes to Unshorn Girls
ONLY UNBOBBED WIN BEAUTY’S CROWN
Ruth Malcomson
Is bobbed hair doomed?
Beauty specialist*, theatrical
managers and atyle authorities In
New York agree that the post
war epidemic of shorn tresses has
reached Its peak, and women who
seek to dress 'differently" are
turning to "transformations," the
Parlslenne bandeau and other
means of disguising their snipped
locks, according to 'late reports
from the east.
Newspaper women, In attend
ance at the Long Island social ac
tivities in honor of tha Prince of
Wales, were Impressed with the
spreading habit of letting the hair
grow long again. Society women,
they found, are pensioning the
barber's shears, because “every
shop girl now has a boyish shingle,
my dear."
BOBBED HAIR
TOO EXPENSIVE
"I cut my hair three years ago,"
said a young business woman in
a downtown office yesterday. "I
thought I’d save a dreadful lot of
time. But, gracious, my 'King Tut’
cut means oodles of bother and
hairdressing expense*— far more
thaa my old coiffure cost."
“ —And bobbing does destroy a
girl's personality,” chimed in her
companion. “You look like every
other girl, at dances, the theater,
parties. Wo all look like orphan
asylum Inmates. No individuality.
Yes, I'm letting mine grow again."
Anyway—
You may he a* beautiful as
Helen of Troy or as shapely ns

To judge from the recent hap

the fairest of the fair from more

the-girla wdth the shingle or boyish

BEAUTIES ARE
CURL ADORNED
On the other hand, Miss Ruth

BOBS DESTROY
PERSONALITY
And when you asked one of the
Atlantic City beauty Judges
"Why?” he replied—
That beauty of face and figure
and personality are the main re
quisites of the judges, but girls
with bobs lack that essential In
dividuality which was needed to
make them stand out from the
crowd—and the girls with long
locks immediately drew the admir
ing glances.
Bobbed hair is not passed by
any means! Some girls will cut
their hair for years to come. And
some married women. But the
trend of fashion is toward long
hair again—with the aid of
"transformations” and the alluring
bandeau and hair net, until na
ture reasserts iself.
“Every girl,” concluded a New
York beauty specialist, "should
study her personality in the mir
ror. If she can make herself dis
tinctive strikingly attractive and
vibrant with personality—by means
of long hair—she Is foolish to sub
mit to the scissors every two
weeks.”
If you don’t think hair styles
are changing, just notice the smart
women in the shopping district
one of these autumn afternoons!
Long tresses are coming back, sure.
